Job description
The clinic coordinator/community health worker will work in these two settings to support Black patients including Black womxn and gender expansive individuals, Black babies, and Black families.
In the Black Wellness Clinic, the clinic coordinator will provide logistical support to prepare patients to be seen in the clinic, including scheduling and ensuring medical records are available, as well as scheduling referral appointments to other providers. In the Black Baby Equity Clinic, the community health worker will support patients in addressing unmet needs and make referrals and connections to community organizations. The position will provide invididualized support throughout clinic visits developing an expertise in the Black Wellness clinic and Black Baby Equity Clinic operations and help resolve issues for Black patients and families.
The clinic coordinator/community health worker must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, independently analyze issues, work with minimal supervision, and be exceedingly well-organized and flexible. Diplomacy and tact are essential, together with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
This position seeks candidates from backgrounds that represent the population being served; who have experience working with patients and a commitment to fostering anti-racist practice, racial justice, and health equity; who will help create more accessible, equitable, coordinated, culturally responsive and person-centered care

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Department Description
The UCSF National Center of Excellence in Women’s Health (NCoE) utilizes a model of integrated and innovative research, clinical care, professional training, leadership development, and community engagement. Our mission is to advance the health and well-being of women and girls from diverse communities in the San Francisco Bay Area. The NCoE’s Black Women’s Health & Livelihood Initiative (BWH&LI) addresses the root causes of health disparities for Black Women to achieve wellness and empowerment across the lifespan. BWH&LI goals are achieved through six key areas: health & well-being, community building, education, leadership, and construction of knowledge & research. The Black Wellness Clinic, launched in June 2022 is a UCSF specialty clinic where Black patients see Black providers. In additions to longer appointment times and a patient navigator, the Black Wellness Clinic uses a reproductive justice framework for clinical care.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
- Minimum 1 year relevant experience.
- Skills to comprehend and assess patient's needs, questions, to quickly locate appropriate resource for assistance.
- Solid interpersonal and customer service skills. Ability to be diplomatic and highly organized. Ability to remain calm under pressure and apply sound judgment.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, demanding environment with minimal supervision. Ability to manage and oversee multiple tasks simultaneously, including high daily call volume.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Proficiency with Windows-based software including Microsoft word, Excel, Outlook. Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area.
- Six (6) months or more experience working with Black patient population or equivalent training related to specific population.
- Demonstrates ability to use sound judgement in responding to issues and concerns.
- Proficient in ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
- Having the ability to travel to both the San Francisco and Oakland site as scheduled.
