Clinical Coder
£11.00 per hour (to increase to £11.50 post probation) 30 hours working across Monday – Friday, days/hours negotiable with flexible working available.
The White Horse Medical Practice is a rapidly expanding training and dispensing GP Practice of over 70 staff. We are a friendly, progressive and forward thinking practice and are always striving for efficiency and excellence in patient care. You will be joining the Business Support Department consisting of 12 staff working in a modern off site serviced office. The team pride themselves on working collaboratively to provide excellent administrative support to the wider practice. With an opportunity to work flexible hours to accommodate personal need and opportunity to work from home on occasions.
We are seeking an enthusiastic person with excellent attention to detail to join the clinical coding team. This role will support both the clinical team by assessing all medical documents that enter the practice and the data quality team by helping them reach their targets. Previous experience working within the medical profession with a background in clinical coding is desirable but not essential for this role. Full training and support will be given to the successful candidate and tailored to their needs. Based on an initial 3-6 month probationary contract with the view to be made permanent on successful completion of all training.

Main Job Responsibilities
· Monitor and review all incoming correspondence through Docman and code appropriately, highlighting and forwarding any actions to clinical and non-clinical staff members
· Amend filing errors and coding as and when necessary
· Ongoing tidying of patient’s medical records
· Summarise patient paper notes into electronic record when required
· Scan patient-related documents onto Docman, ensuring all appropriate information regarding the document is recorded
· Ensure incoming letters are scanned onto the patient record within a timely manner

· To attend meetings and complete training as directed by your line manager
· To abide by practice protocols and policies
· To keep adequate and appropriate records to ensure an effective audit trail
· To carry out additional ad-hoc duties as and when required by the practice
Person Specification
Essential
· Being able to work well independently and within a team
· Self-motivated and able to manage your workload independently
· Excellent organisational skills with good attention to detail
· Positive attitude and a willingness to get involved and support the team as a whole
· Computer literate or an ability to learn
Desired but not essential
· Administration experience within a GP practice
· Previous experience working with the clinical system EMIS Web and Docman (not essential as all training and support will be given)
