Job description
We are looking to appoint a Chief Clinical Technologist or Diagnostic Radiographer to provide leadership particularly in the DXA section of the Nuclear Medicine Department at Singleton Hospital in Swansea. The ideal candidate will be a qualified Senior Clinical Technologist with management experience and professional registration or a Diagnostic Radiographer with current HCPC registration and demonstrated CT experience. Experience in DXA is essential.
This is as twelve months temporary position for maternity cover. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the diagnostic use of DXA and SPECT/CT iamging within Nuclear Medicine.
With the prospect of implementing a static PET/CT service within the Department of Nuclear Medicine at Singleton in the next 1 year to 18 months, the successful candidate will be placed in a prime situation to identify career progression opportunities and to observe future role expansion prospects. This is an exciting opportunity to take part and lead change in a currently fast developing setting.
Part-time working arrangements may also be considered.

THIS POST IS FIXED TERM/SECONDMENT FOR 12 MONTHS DUE TO LIMITED AVAILABLE FUNDING (MATERNITY COVER)
If you are an internal applicant this post can be offered on a secondment basis. However, you will need to gain your line managers approval for the secondment.
The role will predominantly involve contributing to the development of the department with focus on SPECT/CT imaging and DXA protocols, leading on training and competency assessment of the existing workforce as well as ensuring the establishment of a solid training package, adequate to current and future service needs. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the day to day planning of the service alongside the Clinical Team Lead and other Chief Technologists and to provide the operational leadership that this requires. They should also be able to demonstrate evidence of organisational and leadership skills and be able to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
The department of Nuclear Medicine at the Singleton Hospital (part of Swansea Bay University Health Board) is a busy academic imaging department operating two diagnostic SPECT/CT cameras (one of which is a UK-first with multiple CZT detectors), two bone densitometry (DXA) scanners, a brand new, purpose-built, radiopharmacy, a therapy section and (currently) a mobile PET/CT service. The renovated department has substantial research and professional development opportunities available.
