Following a collective commitment from all Gloucestershire’s Local Authorities and other public bodies to take urgent action to cut carbon emissions, this unique and pioneering collaborative post will provide strategic leadership, empowering key stakeholders to successfully plan and achieve their carbon neutral journeys.


Reporting directly to the Managing Director of Gloucester City Council, on behalf of the public agency leadership group Leadership Gloucestershire, and working alongside the Chair and Vice-Chair of Climate Leadership Gloucestershire, this role offers a unique opportunity to use your subject matter knowledge and expertise in environmental issues and skills in partnership working, to bring together the respective climate change and net-zero strategies of all the major public bodies across Gloucestershire.


You will provide strategic direction to each Gloucestershire partner body on responding to the climate change emergency, developing and leading the ‘virtual team’ of Climate Change Lead Officers from each partner agency. Working closely with the County’s Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), you will encourage and facilitate capital projects that deliver on the climate emergency response, ensuring economic growth is a strong and consistent theme within actions that deliver on the climate emergency agenda. You will also work closely with the Gloucestershire Local Nature Partnership to ensure strong alignment between the climate emergency and nature recovery agendas.


You will have significant experience operating at a senior level within and across complex organisations and a track record of success in building effective relationships in partnership working.


As the subject matter expert on climate change for Gloucestershire, your knowledge and enthusiasm for the climate change agenda will allow you to make a real and tangible difference in partnership.
