Full Time City of Westminster, England 56000 GBP ANNUAL Today
Job description

We are looking for candidates with proven experience working with design teams and capital works programmes to join our team in the Restoration & Renewal team in the House of Lords. Internally we call this vacancy House of Lords Restoration & Renewal Lead. This is an exciting position where you will work on the Client side to support articulation of requirements and help to provide the necessary inputs to those charged with delivering the necessary works to refurbish the Palace of Westminster!

This is an opportunity to work hybrid with a minimum of 2 days a week onsite on the Parliamentary estate! This is a position where you will be working at the heart of the House of Lords, acting as interlocutor between the Lords Administration and the Client Team and Delivery Authority, providing comprehensive oversight to key internal stakeholders of planned work for R&R of the Palace and House of Lords decant (the plans to vacate the Palace of Westminster while the works are delivered).

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys problem solving within a programme environment, developing effective working relationships with senior stakeholders and liaising between teams in a complex governance setting. If you have a positive, proactive approach to this, we would love to hear from you!

You’ll be responsible for

  • Acting as interlocutor between the Lords Administration and the Client Team and Delivery Authority
  • Supporting work to revalidate and/or identify HoL requirements for temporary accommodation and for the future of the Palace
  • Providing informed review and analysis of designs and material developed by the programme from a House of Lords standpoint
  • Supporting the development and delivery of engagement plans in the House of Lords
  • Working with the Director and Deputy Director to ensure appropriate and timely sign-offs of proposals
  • Performing regular horizon scanning to identify potential issues or conflicts relating to the work of the programme

If this sounds like something you would like to hear more about, please apply below.

What we’re looking for

  • Proven experience working with design teams and capital works programme teams, translating technical terms and output into easily accessible material for those with a non-specialist background, and identifying potential implications, issues and opportunities for the organisation coming out of the design process
  • Excellent drafting and oral communication skills, including the ability to produce written material (such as briefings) requiring little or no amendment, and the ability to tailor communication for a wide range of audiences.
  • Ability to quickly develop highly effective working relationships across organisational boundaries

It would be even better if you had or if you’re willing to learn…

  • Experience working as part of an estates or workplace team on the client side
  • Knowledge or interest in the House of Lords and the wider Parliamentary context
  • Experience of working in a complex governance setting

The job description provides full details about the role and what we are looking for.

  • Discounts from well-known brands and retailers
  • Parliamentary health and wellbeing programme
  • The opportunity to witness history in the making!
