The Governors of St Marys Church of England Primary School, Clymping are seeking to appoint for the following position:
CLERK TO GOVERNORS
Hours: 3 hours per week, term time only Grade 4 Sp5-6
Salary: £21575-£21968 per annum pro rata (£1473-£1500 actual)
St Marys C of E Primary School, Clymping is a warm, friendly and caring primary school which is rated "Good" by Ofsted. We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic Clerk to the Governors in this exciting opportunity to join our governance team, to ensure that we are achieving our strategic and statutory responsibilities. The Clerk ensures the efficient functioning of the Governing Body by providing:
Effective administrative and organisational support
Guidance to ensure that the Governing Body is compliant with the appropriate legal and regulatory framework;
Professional advice on governance, constitutional and procedural matters relating to the operation of the Governing Body in order to meet its statutory duties
Successful candidates will have excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, be able to work independently and organise their own time whilst working to strict deadlines. Due to the nature of this role, discretion and confidentiality are vital.
The role will include working with the Headteacher and Co-Chairs of the Governing Body to finalise agendas, organise paperwork and documentation including policy management, prepare minutes from Governing Board meetings and distributing them in a timely manner. It also involves the role holder providing advice to Governors on procedural and legislative matters in accordance with our governance approach and relevant statutory guidance and policy.
This role offers good flexibility with working hours and the ability to work from home but does involves some twilight/evening meetings, which are held in person. Experience in school governance is preferred but specialist training is available through West Sussex for an applicant with the right administrative and people skills.
