We have an interesting opportunity available where you will be providing Clerk of Works services within the Architectural Services Team at Luton Council.

Salary: £34,723 - £37,261 a year plus £963 essential car user allowance (subject to criteria)

About the role:

This role involves dealing with the construction and planned maintenance of LBC properties including schools, houses, offices and public buildings. You will be working to monitor and inspect construction work, record progress, carry out handover procedures and ensure compliance with contract documents, construction regulations and best practice.

About you:

We are looking for someone who as experience as Clerk of Works, Surveyor or a Trade Foreman on new and occupied sites which cover typical construction trades.

You'll need to be able to prepare and write progress records, have strong planning skills and be able to manage your own workload to meet projects and conflicting work demands and deadlines.

We need someone who is a team player and able to build and hold strong relationships both internally and externally to consult, negotiate and influence others.

You'll have the opportunity to develop on your already existing knowledge of relevant legislation and statutory requirements which includes CDM regulations, Asbestos regulations, Scaffolding regulations and Planning and Building regulations. You will also need to have an in-depth understanding of JCT terms of contract.

We do ask that you have a relevant technical qualification in a construction rlated subject and membership of an appropriate institue e.g Institute of Clerk of Works or an equivalent verifiable work based experience and learning.

This is a public facing role so you’ll need to show off your fluency in speaking and writing English.
