Job description
St Luke’s is an organisation that is dedicated to enhancing the wellbeing and quality of life of all those affected by a terminal illness in Sheffield. No patient or family is ever the same, and our journey with each individual is unique. Through the provision of high quality care, support, compassion and respect, we aim to improve the lives of these people at some of the most challenging times of their lives.
Our values embody our way of working and they are Dignified, Compassionate, Inspired and Pioneering. Working for St Luke’s offers a real opportunity to make a difference to local people.
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced Ward Clerk to cover our two Reception areas – main reception and In Patient Centre reception. You will help to provide a reception service for all visitors to St Luke’s, acting as the first point of contact for all enquiries, aiding communication between Reception, other departments and external agencies, as well as support clinical staff in ward administration.
We need to ensure we have the right individual in place with a passion for making a difference to others and above all ensure that our organisational values are embedded into everything we do.
This role involves public and patient interaction so the need for excellent communication skills and conflict management is essential. You must be able to deal with internal and external enquiries both over the telephone and in person, exercising initiative in taking the appropriate follow-up action.
It is also essential that you are able to create relationships and communicate within the team, across St Luke’s and with external partners to ensure the accurate recording of data, timely availability of information and effective clinical support processes.
You will have had previous experience in an administration/Receptionist role and have had significant customer service experience. As a key part of the role, you will maintain up to date records of patient activity on the clinical ICT systems and contact external services to make appointments for patients so the ability to maintain confidentiality is key.
Therefore, you will need to be organised, diligent and able to strictly adhere to processes & procedures. The ability to solve problems and work under pressure without compromising quality and be flexible is essential to meet the demands of the role.
Intermediate IT knowledge including use of all Microsoft packages and Outlook is essential.
What can you expect from St Luke’s?
We offer a competitive salary and a range of benefits including 27 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays, Westfield Health scheme, pension scheme (non NHS), free car parking and discounted meals in our restaurant.
