Job description
DEFINITION:
Under the direction of the Director of Parks, Recreation & Culture, performs a wide range of accounting, clerical and administrative functions for the Parks, Recreation & Culture Department.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:
- Administer and process facility rental contracts, memberships and registrations;
- Prepare cash sheets, bank deposits, invoices and refund payments as related to department business;
- Administer and monitor ActiveNet for department, and solve problems as they arise;
- Receive and respond to cemetery enquiries and arrange internments with family members;
- Administer and maintain cemetery records as per bylaw and regulatory authorities;
- Perform reception duties and deal with public in a friendly and proficient manner;
- Gather and process financial-related information and data for recreational services and prepare invoices and reports as required;
- Reconcile accounts and prepare journal entries;
- Handles cash, issue receipts and credit card transactions;
- Does bank deposits;
- Perform a variety of clerical and secretarial duties;
- Maintain records and files for general department business;
- Opens and/or closes the office daily as required;
- Other related duties, as required.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
- Secondary school graduation;
- Minimum of two years' related business/accounting experience;
- Demonstrated ability to reconcile accounts;
- Demonstrated ability to use financial formulas and spreadsheets;
- Computer experience - preferably in a Windows environment, with Word, Excel and ActiveNet software;
- Ability to operate related equipment;
- Accurate typing speed of 55 wpm;
- Ability to work independently and to accomplish tasks and assignments;
- Ability to deal effectively with co-workers and the public;
- Good written and oral communication skills;
- Valid Class 5 B.C. Driver's Licence.
