THE POST - Cleaning Team Leader
University of the West of Scotland is pleased to present an exciting opportunity for a Cleaning Team Leader to join the Department of Campus Services. In this busy and rewarding role, the successful candidate will be enthusiastic, have excellent communication skills, will pride themselves on attention to detail and work well as part of our successful Cleaning Services function.
The post will be based at the University of the West of Scotland’s Paisley Campus. Working closely with the campus services management team, you will be responsible for the operational management and leadership of the cleaning team. You will ensure the delivery of a high quality, customer focused and efficient cleaning service, which provides our customers (facility users) with a safe, hygienic and welcoming environment. You will be well organised, and proactive to be able to plan and prioritise cleaning team workload on an ongoing basis and in response to customer demand.
The successful candidate should have the following:
- SCQF Level 7 or equivalent demonstrable practical work experience.
- Qualified to BICS Assessor level.
- Experience of supervising/managing a cleaning team and service provision in a customer focused environment.
- Experience of monitoring, maintaining and improving quality standards of a cleaning service.
- Experience of training and assessing cleaning team to BICS standards.
- Knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety regulations, legislation and practice with the ability to practically apply this to cleaning services to ensure the service meets the required compliance standards.
- Knowledge and understanding of cleaning materials, methods, standards and use of all required equipment.
- Knowledge and understanding of BICS training standards and the ability to train and assess cleaning teams.
- Knowledge and understanding the needs of the customer within a Higher Education environment or similar.
- Effective written communication skills with a close attention to detail.
- Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with people at all levels
- IT Skills with experience of using Microsoft office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
- Excellent customer care skills.
- Ability to work independently with low supervision as well as part of a team.
- Effective organisation skills with the ability to prioritise, plan and organise own and others workloads efficiently to achieve objectives.
Hours of duty are: Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm, with some flexibility required as Cleaning Services commence on campus from 6:00am, Monday to Friday
