Job description
Are you motivated by working in a diverse and ever-changing environment and international University community?
As one of the top 100 universities in the world, The University of Sheffield benefits from a dynamic multicultural environment, where every student is valued and welcomed. We are currently looking for a Cleaning Shift Supervisor to join our team.
We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We want our service to reflect the rich diversity of our community.
We require individuals with a ‘can do’ attitude to join our teams responsible for cleaning academic buildings, administrative buildings and associated satellite sites across the University Campus.
Campus Services are responsible for delivering front line activities such as security, cleaning, reception, mail deliveries, waste removal and recycling, central stores deliveries, vehicle hire, event set-ups and general moving services across the University.
Through a team of Facilities Managers each assigned to a specific zone of Campus, we are able to work closely with Faculty and Professional Services colleagues to ensure all our building operational activities support the University’s research and teaching objectives.
You will work as part of a team to provide a safe, customer focused and cost-effective cleaning service for staff, students and visitors across approximately 233 university occupied buildings on Campus. You will supervise a team of Cleaning Assistants and Mobile Cleaning Assistants ensuring cleaning schedules are adhered to, that documented standards are monitored and maintained and organise resources according to the needs of the business.
To be successful in the role, you will have a positive, flexible approach to the role and demonstrate a genuine commitment to delivering quality services and a high standard of customer care. You will also require excellent problem-solving skills, be able to organise resources, assign tasks and prioritise activities within an overall schedule for self and others.
If you think that you would like to join our team, and contribute to our high-quality service, please complete an on-line application form. We review all the on-line applications received and if you demonstrate that you meet our criteria, then we will invite you to a selection process/interview.
We are recruiting for two positions, with the working hours as follows:
25 hours per week worked over 5 days, Monday to Friday, with a start time of 6:00am/7:00am to 11:00am/12:00am.
32 hours per week over 5 days, Monday to Friday, with a start time of 6:00am/7:00am each day.
We’re one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK. The University’s Total Reward Package includes a competitive salary, a generous Pension Scheme and annual leave entitlement, as well as access to a range of learning and development courses to support your personal and professional development.
