Purpose of the role:
To be part of the Property Team and drive the performance of the service KPI’s whilst delivering an outstanding student experience. You will be responsible for driving high quality customer service, with the safety and welfare of students always being paramount. The role involves ensuring the common areas of the Property are cleaned to a high standard in order to provide a great first impression to visitors and provide an excellent service to the students in residence. The Weekly cleaning of occupied student kitchens and the essential turn round of the student bedrooms on departure. The post holder will also support with the preparation of open days, intake days and departures, end of tenancy deep clean as well as day to day visitors, students and staff.
Major Duties:
· To be courteous to students, external contacts and visitors at all times and to respond to any queries in an informative cheerful manner, signposting to reception or an alternative staff member where necessary.
· Exercising a high degree of awareness in relation to the security, health, safety and wellbeing of all students, visitors and staff.
· To carry out planned and reactive cleaning duties to rooms/buildings and equipment located throughout the Property.
· This includes during student occupancy weekly cleaning of the flat kitchen which includes hob, oven, microwave, Sink/drainer, work surfaces, front of cupboards, table, chairs, hoover and mop floors, wipe skirting board, clear cobwebs, wipe wall marks, clean window. To carry out regular clearance/cleaning of waste bins providing new lining sacks as required.
· Cleaning of the offices, common room, launderette and gym (if applicable) areas including associated toilet areas to a high standard of hygiene and replenishing consumables.
· To clean the internal doors, frames and glass as necessary.
· To mop and hoover general flooring throughout the Property.
· To clean the main corridor floors/stairwells/landings.
· To carry out spot cleaning, emergency cleaning and provide general support to the team during peak periods; including periodic summer tasks in relation to floor and curtain cleaning, extractor fan/grease filter, light diffuser and high level cleaning;
· To assist with deep cleaning of the student bedroom en-suites, student kitchens, and where applicable the removal of kitchen general and recyclable waste, carpet cleaning, washing curtains etc. during the summer period. (July –Aug- Sept hours it is essential to know we will require the prospective cleaner to increase their hours to be worked in order to meet deadline of the annual deep clean).
· Manual Handling of mattresses, furniture and student belonging.
· To assist with descaling of shower head/hoses. Increase hours to complete statutory Health and Safety requirements
· Assist with keeping external courtyards / bin areas clean and tidy
- Be an ambassador for excellent energy housekeeping, ensuring that unnecessary energy isn’t spent (lights, switches & appliances etc.), promote this ethos to students and support recycling segregation by students.
· Report any faults to reception or your line manager as you undertake your duties, with the aim of fixing faults before they are noticed by the student or client.
- To be vigilant regarding student welfare issues and to report any student problem or any unusual behaviour to your line manager immediately.
In order for Brayford Quay student accommodation to work effectively, you may be required to assist with other areas of work and therefore, you should be prepared to undertake other duties appropriate to the post, as delegated by your line manager.
