HMP Dovegate Full time, 40 hours £22,000 Per annum Here at Serco we are looking for a Cleaning Operative to join our team at HMP Dovegate a category B male establishment prison based on the Staffordshire/Derbyshire border near Uttoxeter. The operational capacity is for 1100 prisoners and it takes a whole team of people to keep the facility safe, secure and in proper clean working order. Key Purpose: Clean all areas that are assigned to the Cleaning Schedule. Must be able to operate equipment i.e. vacuums, buffers and wet vac machines. Maintain cleaning stock within designated areas. Comply with Health & Safety Cleaning Procedures. Carry out any other duties as directed by the Director/Head of Facilities Key Accountabilities: Ability to self-motivate. Ability to use own initiative and to work to tight timescales. Ability to prioritise workload, working in a logical and methodical manner. Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, both in writing and orally. Work as part of a team. Essential qualifications & Additional/special features of the role: Flexible and proactive with a commitment to customer satisfaction and continuous improvement to working approach. Good interpersonal skills. To ensure that various schedules are kept up to date and maintained as may be required. To carry out other duties that may be delegated to them, but which fall within their ability, experience and training. To operate machine tools safely and according to their training. To carry out all duties assigned to them in a safe manner, observing all statutory regulations and the local regulations. To maintain records of tools and report this as required. British Institute of Cleaning Services (BICS) desirable but not essential as training will be provided. Basic Health & Safety qualification. Previous experience essential. All incidents must be immediately reported to the appropriate delegate or manager as incidents, hazards, impacts, risks or activities are witnessed or perceived. Take an active interest in their own development, understanding and implementation of relevant, necessary or desired practices established by Serco or any legal party relevant to Serco. Identify areas where we need to make improvements and prevent further problems.
