From EastEnders, Doctors and Casualty to River City and Pobol y Cwm, our programmes remain a constant source of gripping entertainment, featuring cliff-hanger storylines and much-loved characters with whom our viewers have grown up.

EastEnders is the multi award winning soap broadcast four times a week on BBC ONE. It currently ranks as one of the most watched TV dramas in the UK tackling many controversial and taboo issues previously unseen on television in the UK. Through great writing and attention to detail the show manages to successfully balance gritty realism with high drama and entertainment to keep its millions of dedicated viewers coming back for more, on-screen and on-line, every week.

Main Responsibilities

You will report to the Series Designer.

Our Graphic Designer will develop and deliver all graphic content required by the design department, ensuring that it achieves the highest creative and editorial standards with adherence to BBC guidelines, whilst working in collaboration with production and editorial colleagues across platforms and languages.

You will be required to work effectively with other departments ensuring you maintain excellent relationships throughout and produce distinctive content on a variety of platforms, whilst ensuring that our content reflects our diverse audiences and be accountable for the usability and accessibility of design deliveries for the broadest possible cross-section of users.

The requirement to keep up to date with emerging industry trends is essential, all the while sharing your design expertise and creative solutions for the benefit of the audience and be accountable for the quality of your work, ensuring it meets intended purposes.

Are you the right candidate?

To be successful, you will need to demonstrate the following criteria –

  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience in Continuing Series Drama
  • Portfolio evidence of excellent design work demonstrating creative flair
  • An experienced Adobe Creative Suite User – Photoshop, Illustrator and In Design
  • A passion for and a great understanding of the area in which the role operates
  • Able to deliver different approaches and design styles
  • Able to communicate design decisions with a diverse range of people; evidence of successfully collaborating and sharing your ideas
  • Keep pace with latest design trends and technology developments
  • Proven experience of working to tight deadlines
  • Understand clearance and how it is used for Graphic Design content
  • Understanding of the importance of the BBC's values in accuracy and impartiality
  • Knowledge and passion for Continuing Dramas, especially with EastEnders
