Company Overview
Our company runs educational classes for children using LEGO and other building tools. Children aged 3+ build different models while learning about Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths. Classes operate 7 days a week across Edinburgh & West Lothian
Job description
Successful candidates will initially start as a Classroom Assistant. Opportunities to become a Class Teacher are based on performance and capability.
The Class Assistant supports the teacher as follows:
- Meeting & greeting children
- Helping children build their models
- Help children during games and activities to support the learning
The Class Teacher has the following responsibilities
- Lead the class and be responsible for all equipment, class administration and safety
- Lead games and activities in line with agreed lesson plans
- Provide technical explanations (in line with primary school curriculum) of science and technology concepts indicated by the model
- Help the children build the models
The programmes follow a structured curriculum with documented lesson plans. Successful candidates would be given training for the role and would shadow existing staff to gain experience.
Classes are educational and fun. You should be able to create an enjoyable and playful atmosphere while ensuring the children learn about the topic each week.
Term time work is aligned with the Scottish School timetable e.g
- Spring term: Mid January to end March
- Summer Term: Early April to early July
- Autumn Term: Early September to mid December.
Opportunities for summer work are likely to be available throughout July and some of August.
Successful candidates should be able to work a minimum of 2 of the following shifts.
West Lothian
Monday: 3 to 5.30pm
Tuesday: 3 to 6.45
Wednesday: 3pm to 6pm
Edinburgh
Thursday: 3.15 to 6.30pm
Fridays: 1pm to 4.15pm

Recruitment process involves:
- Face to face interview
- Attendance at a class for observation
- Participation in a class
Skills/Qualifications:
- Candidates should have some experience of interacting with and playing with children, this can be as part of a previous job, part of your education or within the family
- Candidates must be confident, articulate, and able to build relationships with parents and children. A high degree of organisation is also required.
- Candidates must have their own transport and be able to carry equipment
- Ideally they will already be PVG cleared. For candidates who are not currently PVG cleared, any job offer would be subject to the candidate obtaining clearance.
- Students with STEM subjects as part of their degree are of particular interest for teaching roles.
Pay:
Between £10 and £15 per hour dependant on experience and allocated role.

Salary: £10.00-£15.00 per hour
