Job description
Fosse Meadows is an established high welfare free range/ organic chicken and sheep farm, butchery and retail business. We are looking for a reliable and conscientious individuals who are organised. You will have a good understanding of livestock and farm maintenance, you will be able to drive a telehandler and tractor. This is a diverse hands-on role with great opportunity for someone who wants to develop their career with an innovative successful regenerative farming business that is looking to increase its sustainable credentials.
Within the role you will be required to:
- Good communication skills, working to a farming structure ensuring each days jobs are complete. highlighting issues and solutions where required.
- Looking after livestock, working with farm supervisor and team to manage day to day tasks. which will mean you could be working with chickens/sheep/workshop
- General farm maintenance to include; vehicle & machinery maintenance, fencing, welding, construction, groundworks and labouring in line with general farm maintenance
- Look after small flock of sheep, including dosing, worming, dagging, lambing
- Work on chickens can include
- General bedding and welfare checks
- Chicken catching and moving birds.
- Working in on farm poultry abattoir & packing unit
- Pressure washing, setting up sheds, general cleaning of yard
Candidate Requirements:
- The ideal candidate will be physically fit, self motivated, enthusiastic and dedicated.
- A good eye for detail is essential and interest in keeping a tidy yard.
- The successful candidate must have an interest in livestock and animal welfare.
- This is a responsible position, which needs the successful candidate to be a team player and also happy to work alone.
- Shifts and hours can be flexible so we can take on full-time or part-time employees.
- Telehandler Certificates are a preference but training can be given.
- Driving License, experienced with a telehandler
- Be reliable and committed and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Practically minded; maintence and construction skills and experience
- References required
Salary is dependent on experience and hours wanted. We offer 28 days’ holiday. Enrolment into Nest pension scheme. We love food and hope you do too, so we give a 40% staff discount.
