Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join a small, multidisciplinary team of clinical and health professionals including clinicians, physiologists, ergonomists and psychologists. The INM supports MOD personnel operating across a wide range of occupational and environmental conditions at sea, in the air, and on land both in the UK and overseas. We are seeking a registered General Practitioner with an interest in Occupational Medicine to support our clinical out-patient assessments, assist improvement in our services and to undertake collaborative research.
This position is advertised at 40 hours per week.
Evidence of Immunity to Hepatitis B is required.
Job description
occupational healthcare and specialist employability assessments for all patients referred to the Department;
clinical support and Subject matter Expert (SME) for the Tri-Service non-freezing cold injury clinic and the RN fitness and anthropometry clinic, providing medical assessments and reports for these clinics.
appropriate preventative medical advice to individuals and the chain of Command;
development of a health surveillance programme for RN and MoD employees at risk of non-freezing cold injury, principally the RN diving population.
The successful applicant will have contact with patients and service users. Managing and undertaking clinics. Patient Referrals, Medical Reports and SME advice;
Development, validation and accreditation of clinical assessment tools in non-freezing cold injured patients;
Medical Support/SME advice to the Applied Physiology group, MoD protocols, research (there is an Independent Medical Officer requirement), teaching commitments, medico-legal activities;
Membership of MoD Committees.
