CITI Analysts are instrumental in delivering the Trust’s most significant transformation and improvement programmes, by supporting data-led decisions and actions in the prioritisation and delivery of CITI’s programmes. This is an exciting opportunity to be working in and alongside our Clinical Groups and supporting teams across the organisation in delivering its vision for better, faster, fairer healthcare.
CITI Analysts will act as ambassadors for CITI across GSTT and externally, collaborating closely with internal and external stakeholders. We are looking dynamic individuals who are driven to fulfil CITI’s ambitions to be an exemplar internationally of a function that stimulates and delivers leading innovation, transformation and improvement.

The interview process will take the form of an assessment centre for which the candidates will be asked to carry out a number of exercises over a period of ~3 hours. The dates held for the assessment centre are : 4th, 5thand 6thof April, with potential additional dates on w/c 10thApril if required through the recruitment process.
The CITI Analyst is responsible for providing direct analytics support to the Centre for Innovation, Transformation and Improvement; helping to advance the data collection, collation and analysis on projects and programmes. This role will involve creating tools to monitor and report performance, transformation and improvement. The post holder will help the CITI Leadership and Management team, and particularly the Senior CITI Analytics Manager, be effective in all the roles they undertake, by working with them on CITI projects and specifically around the following areas:
- To lead on insightful analysis that support performance monitoring, transformation and improvement across a number of programmes and projects.
- Lead on developing and implementing plans for data collection, collation and analysis across CITI.
- Develop data insights and analytical tools that support performance management as well as the prioritisation and delivery of change.
- Support the Senior CITI Analytics Manager in training and developing the analytic capability across CITI and the Trust.

Data Analysis responsibilities
1. Lead on Data Analysis for teams across CITI, for programme teams and for Clinical Group teams across the Trust.
2. Ensure the quality assurance of data requests, analysis and pieces of development. This will involve using a mix of SQL, Power BI and Excel.
3. Work with the Senior CITI Analytics Manager to develop analytic capability across CITIand the Trust through supporting the development and delivery of capability development programmes.
4. Assist colleagues across the Clinical Groups in gaining a greater understanding by leading on how they can use data to drive improvement in their service.
5. Be responsible for the development of collaterals and tools which are useable by other members of the CITI team and the wider organisation.
6. Work with the Senior CITI Analytics Manager to develop a community of practice in relation to Data Analytics and deliver training, including to more senior members of staff.
7. Lead and advocate for using best practice data analysis across CITI, and support all programmes to report their progress and impact consistently.
8. Develop understanding of the concepts, methodologies, skills and techniques involved the delivery of other CITI functions (incl. innovation).
9. Build Data Analytics networks across the Trust and externally to help support consistency and maximise our impact.
Programme and Project planning responsibilities
1. As part of project and programme teams, lead on the identification and creation of programme metrics, performing analysis to baseline performance and set targets.
2. Evaluate and analyse complex issues using tested and credible tools (expertise in analytic tools, benchmarking and sources of healthcare data), and automate routine requests.
3. Be responsible for the development and plans for data collection, collation and analysis and provide analytic support to a number of programmes and projects.
4. Be responsible for the development of measurement frameworks and tools such as Business Information Dashboards to support programme teams to monitor their progress and impact.
5. Be responsible for the extraction of data from multiple sources to promote the use of user-friendly data reporting platforms.
6. Complete ad-hoc exploratory analysis to try and identify further opportunities to be discussed with operational and clinical colleagues.
7. Contribute to demand and capacity modelling and other predictive analytics requests.
8. Include qualitative data gathering and collation in data analytics, including summarising research to inform the development and promotion of best practice.
9. Perform data analysis to support the development of business cases and document findings using prescribed formats.
10. Ensure the timely provision of data, data analysis and reporting that can be presented and understood to non-analytical colleagues.
11. Ensure that all work adheres to Information Governance standards and Trust values.
12. Use data analysis knowledge to continuously improve the approach to project management and delivery.
Programme and Project delivery responsibilities
1. As a member of blend Programme and Project teams, lead the management and reporting, especially those pertaining to data and data analysis.
2. Produce high-quality and timely written documentation for a wide range of audiences. This will include data analysis and project reports, communications, business cases, bids for funding and explanations of technical and complex issues.
3. Utilise data analysis to inform recommendations and present findings at all levels throughout the Trust including to senior clinical and management audiences.
Responsibility for the monitoring of benefits and dependencies across programmesand projects
1. Be responsible for the development of the measurement framework to baseline performance against agreed balanced metrics, to track impact of the projects and monitor the realisation of benefits.
2. Develop and implement data collection plans where there are gaps and provide complex level of analysis of large and complex data sets.
3. Escalate data quality concerns to the Senior CITI Analytics Manager.
4. Use a range of analytical and reporting software and bringing together internal and external datasets, to deliver insightful analysis.
5. Work with others to use data to understand and track complex interdependencies between different initiatives and different parts of the organisation or sector.
Programme and project contributions, communication and relationship management
1. Work with the CITI Team to identify, develop and lead stakeholder relationships, specifically where it can advance the team’s use of data and ability to make data-driven decisions.
2. Present complex data sets and analysis outputs to relevant forums, including when communicating regular programme updates (incl. risks) to all stakeholders (including non-analytical colleagues) which would involve imparting sensitive and complex
information.
3. Use a range of IT applications to create high quality and engaging reports and maintain project information in line with best practice and established CITI ways of working. Practice effective document management to ensure appropriate access to a range of
audiences.
4. Lead the development of informed recommendations to clients that are based on credible evidence including the analysis of highly complex data.
5. Build effective working relationships with divisions and own senior stakeholder relationships.
6. Prepare and lead workshops, stakeholder events and programme meetings with a wide range of stakeholders
7. Engage with relevant staff in divisions to identify issues with data capture and quality; identifying improvements that promote standardisation at an organisational level.
8. Develop CITI’s strategies for transparent patient involvement and continual improvement of patient/carer (customer) experience, working with the Patient and Public Engagement and Involvement Team to ensure the adequate extraction and analysis of relevant patient experience data.
Team responsibilities
1. Provide analytical service to the Senior Leadership of CITI so they can monitor, track and report the impact the function is making at an aggregated level.
2. This includes leading analysis that informs the prioritisation process for CITI by collating and analysis performance data from across the Trust.
3. Work effectively in blended programme and project teams, including resource from CITI, clinical operational colleagues, external SMEs and other project resources.
4. Provide data analytics training and coaching; supporting, mentoring and modelling best practice to both CITI staff and external stakeholders and partners.
Financial and supplier responsibilities
1. Provide analysis of budgets as part of financial project control measures and maximising the use of resources to ensure project budgets are managed effectively.
2. Work with Senior Delivery Managers to ensure that project related business plans are underpinned by detailed and robust financial plans through budget planning and negotiation of appropriate budgets.
General responsibilities
1. Ensuring that the delivery approach is collaborative with clinical and operational teams and team members are embedded with our stakeholders.
2. Ensure our delivery approach flexes to accommodate for our programme and stakeholder need.
3. Effectively represent and champion the role of CITI in our work in external and internal forums.
4. Be proactive in identifying and addressing issues that are significant within CITI and across Clinical Groups.
5. Work flexibly to cover all administrative areas as requested by the Associate Directors of Delivery, including covering colleagues or periods of absence where appropriate and within the scope of capabilities.
6. Assist with the induction and orientation of new staff CITI, showing colleagues how to complete tasks associated with the role.
