*THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN SIOUX FALLS, SOUTH DAKOTA - IT IS NOT A REMOTE POSITION*
The South Dakota Established Program for Stimulating Competitive Research (EPSCoR) Office is seeking a communication and information officer. This position reports to the Director of SD EPSCoR and works in close collaboration with the SD EPSCoR office staff. The position requires regular communication with SD EPSCoR stakeholders including, university and college faculty and administration, students, non-profit and business groups, as well as staff at federal funding agencies such as the National Science Foundation (NSF), National Institutes of Health (NIH), Department of Energy (DOE), National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), and others. This position will maintain the office’s website and produce publications for multiple media outlets. Additionally, this person will assist in the development and production of events sponsored by the office and track metrics for data driven reporting and decision-making. Essential duties include:
- Maintains sdepscor.org website, list-serve, and social media outlets for the promotion of SD EPSCoR activities.
- Track and analyze data from digital resources to aid in decision making and report generation.
- Stay abreast of new digital resources and technologies for support programmatic goals.
- Develop new digital and print materials supporting programmatic goals.
- Work with stakeholders to obtain information and write stories and news items suitable for publication.
- Work with stakeholders to obtain and produce photographs and other visual information suitable for publication in a compliant manner.
- Ensure publications reflect the mission and goals of the office.
- Develop and publish informational materials (print and digital) and press releases.
- Write and publish bi-weekly newsletters and occasional digests for public dissemination.
- As a team member, develop and distribute all necessary annual reports.
- Attend national NSF EPSCoR meetings, conferences, and workshops as necessary.
Event and Conference Management (10%)
- Assist the office with planning and execution of meetings, conferences, and events.
- Assist the Director with proposal development, editing, formatting, and submission.
- Liaise with the Board of Regents, jurisdictional steering committee, and other state agencies as necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Bachelor’s degree.
- Ability to travel within South Dakota and nationally.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Graphic design and layout experience.
- Marketing, communications, and media relations experience.
- Website design and management experience.
- Experience in writing newsletters and outreach articles.
- Social Media content development expertise.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe products, and WordPress.
- Event planning experience.
