Job description
To assist in the running of the Lincolnsfield’s Centre to include the Residential Centre, Day Visits, and the maintenance of the general Site. Live-in with on-call duty required to share the cover of the Residential Centre groups and to assist with site security.
1. Children’s Residential Centre: assist with the delivery of the programmes and all the different types of activities offered, all domestic duties to maintain high presentation and cleaning standards, catering duties in the kitchen. Activities (other than Children at War) consist of the following:-environmental education, parachute games, team building, orienteering, arts and crafts, mini beasts, den building, campfire
2. Children at War Programmes: To facilitate a children at war day visit or residential stay. The programme includes being in costume to help teach and demonstrate different aspects of the programme, cash handling, shop stock control, developing displays.
3. Administration: To contribute to all health and safety requirements from activity to site and fire risk assessments, first aid, relevant policies to all aspects of the work. To allocate when necessary, timings/rotas for Children at War day visits.
4. Site & General Maintenance: To be responsible for site maintenance duties such as keeping a check on equipment, furniture, fixtures & fittings, gardening, litter picking, painting and construction. You will be required to complete and record monthly checks on all water temperatures, emergency lighting, fire alarms and exits. Any tenants’ issues should be reported to main office or Phil Knight.
5. On Call Responsibilities: To meet and greet the group leaders, to explain the centre rules, requirements and to deliver the safety talk to the group attending. To confirm the acceptable standards and terms of conditions and get this signed by the group leader. To do regular checks of the centre throughout the group’s stay to avoid excess cleaning at the end of the visit as per the checklist. If you need to leave the site whist the group are here, they should be notified and you are to be available by phone if they need your assistance. At the end of the group’s stay you will need to complete a walk around of the centre facilities with the leader to ensure that it meets our acceptable standards. If there are any damages or excessive cleaning required, this is to be recorded and the leader should be informed prior to their departure. Once the group have left the site needs to be locked and secured.
Qualifications and Skills.
Essential: Excellent Communication skills and basic administration tasks. Hard working to maintain our high standards. Show flexibility as hours may vary over 7 days- 21 hours per week. However, at times further hours will be expected to be worked. This position is a live- in position, where the candidate will be expected to reside on site full time whilst in Lincolnsfields Centre employment.
Desirable: Previous experience of working with children and/or in an outdoor education setting. Knowledge or an interest in the 1940’s period. Food Hygiene Level 2, NVQ level 2/3 Play work. First Aid Certificate. Experience of catering and domestic housekeeping.
