We are excited to offer the opportunity to join our Under 18’s Crisis Service as either a Clinical or Forensic Psychologistsupporting young people and their families across Norfolk and Waveney.This is an 8a position but we would welcome applications from current third year Trainee Clinical Psychologists due to qualify September 2023 on a band 7 to 8a preceptorship basis.
The team offers emergency assessment and community based intensive support to young people and their families who are experiencing a mental health crisis. CAIST aims to identify and reduce risks when children/&young people may be experiencing high levels of distress. We work hard to help people avoid in-patient hospital admission, and when required, to expedite safe and effective discharge.

Advances in training, clinical practice and research have widened the scope of interventions psychologists use when dealing with acute distress. The post holder will be expected to contribute to this expanding knowledge of ‘what works’ in a dynamic and evolving service. Despite the intensity of the work, it is brief in its duration since it is designed to help children, adolescents and families so that the stage that is ‘crisis’ can pass. Using the Thrive model, the CAIST team provide episodic care and plan for and support in the transfer for the ‘what next’. You will be working closely alongside the Principal and Consultant Psychologist and will, in turn provide clinical supervision and support to the Assistant Psychologist and other members of the team as required. You will have the opportunity to work within a diverse multidisciplinary team, including Nursing, Occupational Therapy and Speech and Language Therapy, providing a psychological perspective and dispersing up to date evidence-based knowledge through consultation, joint working and training.

CAIST (Crisis, Assessment and Intensive Support Team) is a vibrant and dynamic service that has 3 teams based across Norfolk & Waveney and currently offers an 08.00 to 20.00 service, 7 days a week.

**This post attracts a recruitment premium of £3,000 (pro-rata for part time roles). This is a one off payment with half paid on appointment and half paid after the completion of a satisfactory probation period (6 months). The premium is taxable. Please note that should you leave employment, or choose to move to an alternative post within the Trust that does not attract this recruitment premium, you will be required to reimburse all or some it, as follows: 100% of the value of the premium in the first 12 months; 50% of the value of the premium in the period 12 months to 2 years following appointment.
