ShareLocation: Regular presence at our offices in Bath plus some remote working. There will be a requirement to travel at least once a month for up to three days to deliver handover appointments at regional centres. Reasonable expenses will be covered and time off in lieu will be given for this.
Hours: 37.5 hrs/week (substantial part time considered, i.e. minimum 30 hours per week)

For over 50 years, Designability has designed and provided products that have enabled disabled people to live with greater independence. Our team of talented designers and engineers create innovative new products which have helped hundreds of thousands of people with their day to day challenges. We are best known now for Wizzybug, our powered wheelchair which helps young disabled children move and play independently for often the first time in their lives. Families loan one from us for free thanks to the generous support of our donors.
We have ambitious plans for the future. We are in a strong financial position with healthy reserves, and have a forward plan for a significant new product innovation, and a partnership project which will have impact on the lives of millions of disabled people.
The primary purpose of the role is to support the delivery of Designability’s clinical services, including the Wizzybug Loan Scheme. Wizzybug is an innovative powered wheelchair designed specifically for young children. The Wizzybug Loan Scheme involves working with families and young children. The post holder will work as part of a team to deliver our services. This requires close collaboration with Designability’s occupational therapy team, as well as the production and administrative teams. The post holder will liaise with service users, carers and health care professionals to provide an exemplary standard of care and clinical excellence.
This role will input into projects related to research, product development, training, and promotional activities such as exhibitions, presentations, as required.
You will have:
- A Degree in occupational therapy
- Be HCPC Registered
- Experience of occupational therapy service delivery, understanding and meeting client expectations
- Practical experience of seating or wheelchair assessments
- Clinical knowledge of a wide range of disabilities with both theoretical and practical experience
- Experience of supporting innovation and change
- Experience of multi-disciplinary working including development of effective networks/partnerships
- Thorough knowledge of health and social care policy, particularly relating to paediatrics and wheelchair services
