Winterbridge Healthcare have been retained by an NHS organisation to source an experienced and high-performing interim CHC Nurse Assessor operating at band 7 or higher to deliver clinical, operational, and governance expertise to enhance the CYPCC Team's service capabilities.
This assignment would suit an interim who possesses excellent communication and meticulous assessing skills; resilient, capable of working autonomously but who also thrives in working as part of a Team.

Role Title: Interim CHC Nurse Assessor

Start Date: As soon as possible with an initial 3 month (temp to perm options will also be considered.)
Rate: Up to £405.00 Per Day (Depending on Experience) via Umbrella
Working Pattern: 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday
Location: East of England
The Role:
- Beginning work immediately completing DST's and reviews;
- To complete evidence-based assessment for continuing care provision in line with the National Framework for Children’s Continuing Care and Local Continuing Care Policy, by using the Decision Support Tool (DST), in addition to drawing on the advice of other professionals, whilst taking into consideration the following aspects:
- a holistic assessment of the needs of the child or young person and their family;
- reports and risk assessments from multidisciplinary teams or evidence collated during the Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan assessment.
- the preferences of the child or young person and their family;
- To advise other professionals in identifying a child’s need for continuing care provision (pre-assessment), determine whether a full assessment is necessary and to make referrals appropriately;
- To make recommendations to the CYPCC Eligibility Panel as to whether the child or young person has continuing care needs whilst ensuring that the continuing care process is (and is seen to be) consistent, fair, transparent, culturally sensitive, and non-discriminatory;
- To also navigate both, children and parents, through the Local Continuing Care assessment process;
- Provide advice and managing parents’ expectations, liaising with families in challenging and complex situations;
Please note: Previous experience in CHC, Children's Complex Case Management and Case Assessments is essential to be successful for this role.
You will be required to:
- Be a Registered Nurse with a current NMC Registration (Ideally a qualified and practising children's nurse)
- Possess a thorough understanding of Continuing Healthcare and the Framework including safeguarding
- Have completed CHC Checklists, DST's and Reviews
- Have a minimum of 5 years experience in a previous CHC Nurse Assessor, Clinical Lead (CHC) or Senior CHC Nurse Assessor role
- Have a minimum of 5 years experience in a previous CHC Nurse Assessor, Clinical Lead (CHC) or Senior CHC Nurse Assessor role for Paediatrics/CYP/Children's
- Possess strong writing skills, able to articulate clinical understanding clearly
