Who we are:
Established in 2005, Dynamo Limited is a creative services studio working with some of the biggest names in the entertainment, product, and publishing industries. Based in the centre of Exeter, Devon, the company is made up of a core in-house team of project managers, editors, designers, writers, illustrators, and 3D artists/animators, plus over 70 external freelance contributors. Job description:
We are urgently seeking an experienced book designer to join our publishing team and work on gaming, pop culture, licensed, illustrated and activity titles on either a full-time or freelance basis.
What we are looking for:
· We expect you to have at least five years’ experience designing children’s book and a good working knowledge of children’s publishing trends – both trade and mass market – so that you can independently and confidently tackle whatever project you face next.
· The successful candidate needs to be versatile and able to engage in a wide range of subjects over a number of different formats – the books we work on can be anything from 12-page board books to reference titles of over 500 pages.
· Reporting to the Publishing Manager, you will be expected to manage the day-to-day running of multiple projects, from initial planning stage through briefing and managing suppliers and clients, all the while carefully managing the budget. Depending on the project, you may be required to undertake design work, but need to be equally comfortable managing/overseeing others.
What we offer:
· This role offers you the opportunity to be involved in a fast paced, vibrant working atmosphere, with colleagues who collaborate and support each other to not only fulfil a diverse range of client briefs, but also to express their individual creativity, grow their industry knowledge, and become an integral member of a dynamic team of creatives.
· For full-time staff, we offer a range of employee benefits, including; 25 days holiday + bank holidays, office shut down over Christmas and New Year, an employee pension scheme, a NHS top-up medical scheme with WPA (after the first year of employment), as well as several staff perks throughout the year – such as Christmas parties and fun days-out.
· An in-house or hybrid position is preferable so the role would ideally suit someone who is local, but we are willing to explore remote working for the right candidate.
