Job description
A Ukrainian mum settled in the UK is looking to employ a childminder, personal assistant, play buddy, carer, support worker for her 12 years old daughter who has ASD & learning disability. Giving preference to students or young people who can support active play, sports and swimming. Her mum is busy at work, she may sometimes stay longer at work, while someone must be with the child in the afternoons and evenings between 2pm and 7-8pm.
Requires the following support:
- With Personal Care: when eating meals (difficulties with hands coordination and posture, gets quickly tired, to feed with the spoon at the end), taking medication, changing dressing, Toileting, Showering/ Bathing, brushing teeth (if the assistant will choose helping later in the evenings)
- Keeping safe: she likes to chew on non-edible items (her silicon toys), some items she finds to chew unexpectedly in the household which could present a choking hazard or damaging for her teeth and stomach. She needs to be observed.
- Help with cleaning can be an advantage, but not essential like those: vacuum cleaning, placing cutleries and plates into the dishwasher after eating, Laundry, Stripping and making bed. The child is very messy and likes sensory play.
- Support with getting around and Leisure: trips out in the community, sports, trampolining, swimming
Alica is a cheerful, happy girl who loves swimming, going to soft plays, trampoline parks, theme parks or walks to the local High Street. Other play and fun activities. Driving would be preferrable but not essential. We live in the area where all the activities can be reached easily by public transport or by walk (we live 5 min walk to Staines train station and near the bus stops). The mum can pay a taxi to reach the destinations faster.
Previous experience of providing care assistance would be an advantage but not essential.
Training will be provided.
DBS check will be carried out for this role, which will be paid for by the employer.
The essential requirements for this role are helping with personal care and keeping safe at home.
Desirable but not essential requirements for the PA’s role: to support leisure activities or/and to engage with cleaning after our messy child. The attitude will be praised.
