London, Leeds, Edinburgh – We’re happy with home working the majority of the time, however you’ll need to be in the office 1 to 2 days per week. There’s occasional travel for events and meetings funded by the bank.
Salary & Benefits: The base salary banding for this role is £71,577 to £79,530 in London and £61,911 to £68,790 outside of London plus annual personal bonus, 15% employer pension contribution, 4% flexible cash pot, private medical insurance, 30 days holiday plus bank holidays.

Lloyds Banking Group is the UK’s largest Digital, Retail and Commercial Bank with a focus on Helping Britain Prosper.
The Chief Technology Office (CTO) oversee the overall technology strategy. The CTO Skills and Communities Team are a vibrant mix of techies, learning and development and community and comms professionals.
This is a brilliant opportunity for an experienced engineer, techie or dev advocate to join the Engineering Skills Team in CTO building our Engineering Faculty. This is through hands on labs and challenges, learning interventions and social learning opportunities to developing engineers across the bank with skills for today and the future.
The team runs large events such as our Reboot hackathons and conferences, regular internal tech talks and Engineering Masterclasses. We deliver learning programmes such as our Modern Engineering Accelerator, Cloud Ready journey and Learning Pathways for engineering roles.

We’ll tailor the role to your experience, but activities you’ll be responsible for include things like;
- Drive the engineer learning experience to be simpler and better for all. By advocating for improvements to the Tech Academy and surrounding platforms and services.
- Inspire our engineering community to co-create innovative and immersive learning experiences. With an aspiration to widen our labs, challenges and hacks offering in 2023.
- Curate learning content to support engineers build and apply skills around our strategic tech, core languages, platforms, tools and techniques
- Connect with engineers to bring feedback from the community into the team. Using your engineering skills and knowledge to have credible peer to peer conversations.
- Help define our team developer relations strategy, working on our content strategy and supporting the delivery of impactful engineering events
- Work directly with People and Places, Skills and Community and wider CTO as a voice of engineers
What do we need to see from applicants?
- Experience as hands-on engineer (software, devops, sre, cloud, etc), developer advocate or similar role
- A solid technical background, experience working in delivery teams, and good understanding of software development processes.
- A love of learning and inspiring others to learn; be curious and engaged in technology inside and outside the bank.
- Curiosity to explore, challenge and question to learn and inform, and turn that into the development of strong, engineer led, products.
- Interest in nurturing mutually beneficial relationships between organisations and engineers.
- Passion and drive to deliver incremental change and improvement, bringing the team along on the journey.
