Chief Operating Officer

Chief Operating Officer London, England

PeckwaterBrands
Full Time London, England 10.56 - 12.04 GBP Today
Job description

We’re a FoodTech scale-up with over £25 million of funding, and we want to revolutionise food delivery through the creation and franchising of virtual food brands (brands designed for delivery), operated by anyone that runs a commercial kitchen - we think there’s about 70,000 of them in the UK. We've grown massively in a short period of time and have operations in the UK, Europe, USA and UAE. We offer kitchen operators everything they need to sell our brands through delivery Apps whilst continuing to service their core customers.

In short, we’re defining the future of the food delivery market! Nobody’s growing as fast as us in the UK, and we’re looking for great people to join us on our journey.

Our funding comes from some of the biggest names in PE and VC, and our Series A was raised from TDR Capital (owners of ASDA, David Lloyd, Stonegate, etc); Softbank; Fuel Ventures; and Pembroke VCT. In short, we’re defining the future of the food delivery market, nobody’s growing as fast as us in Europe, and we’re looking for a senior leader to take us to the next level.

Your tasks:
Lead the execution of our most important strategic initiatives:
  • Implement strategies derived from the executive leadership, translating high-level plans into actionable programmes.
  • Ensure that ways-of-working align with strategic growth targets, and then own how we track towards our objectives.

Process Improvement Initiatives:
  • Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies in daily operations and implement process improvements.
  • Collaborate with teams to streamline workflows, reduce waste, and enhance productivity.

Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
  • Monitor external factors such as market trends, supply chain disruptions, and regulatory changes that could impact operations.
  • Develop contingency plans to mitigate risks and ensure business continuity.

Change Management:
  • Lead change initiatives related to scaling, process optimisation, or organisational structure changes.
  • Develop communication plans to facilitate smooth transitions and gain employee buy-in.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with department heads to ensure cross-functional alignment and effective communication.
  • Lead regular cross-functional meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and opportunities.

About You

  • You have an excellent understanding of operations, commercials, and the financial side of running a business. You’ve probably already been a VP or higher, running a large team.
  • You might come from a strategy consulting background (e.g. from McKinsey, BCG, Bain, etc.), or hold an MBA (e.g. from Said, LSE, Insead, or LBS).
  • You’ve worked in a high-growth environment before - probably in a venture-backed business - and understand the pace that we need to move at to meet ever evolving challenges.
  • You’ll roll your sleeves up and personally own the delivery of complex workstreams. If your engagement ends at ‘finding the right person to look at that crucial project for you’, then you’re the wrong person for us.
  • You understand group structures and appreciate the complexities of running multi-market operations and teams (e.g. pricing variations, international tax, etc).
  • You aren’t phased by complexity and can draw together multiple sources of data to dive deep into process and system analysis.
How We Work:
This is a hybrid role. We ask that everyone joins us in our London based offices two days a week but the rest of the time you’ll be able to work from home. On Mondays we try to get everyone together in our offices in London for our Team Weekly meeting.

Who We Are:
Our people mean everything to us, so it’s important that we have a great company culture that allows everyone to thrive and be the best they can be. We aren't hierarchical, everyone has a voice and everyone’s voice matters. Our company values are important to us, we help each other, act fast to make things happen and celebrate our milestones. A huge part of Peckwater is the amazing people that work for us and we do everything possible to keep growing and nurturing our great culture.
