Chief Operating Officer London, England
Job description
In short, we’re defining the future of the food delivery market! Nobody’s growing as fast as us in the UK, and we’re looking for great people to join us on our journey.
Our funding comes from some of the biggest names in PE and VC, and our Series A was raised from TDR Capital (owners of ASDA, David Lloyd, Stonegate, etc); Softbank; Fuel Ventures; and Pembroke VCT. In short, we’re defining the future of the food delivery market, nobody’s growing as fast as us in Europe, and we’re looking for a senior leader to take us to the next level.
Your tasks:
- Implement strategies derived from the executive leadership, translating high-level plans into actionable programmes.
- Ensure that ways-of-working align with strategic growth targets, and then own how we track towards our objectives.
Process Improvement Initiatives:
- Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies in daily operations and implement process improvements.
- Collaborate with teams to streamline workflows, reduce waste, and enhance productivity.
Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
- Monitor external factors such as market trends, supply chain disruptions, and regulatory changes that could impact operations.
- Develop contingency plans to mitigate risks and ensure business continuity.
Change Management:
- Lead change initiatives related to scaling, process optimisation, or organisational structure changes.
- Develop communication plans to facilitate smooth transitions and gain employee buy-in.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with department heads to ensure cross-functional alignment and effective communication.
- Lead regular cross-functional meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and opportunities.
About You
- You have an excellent understanding of operations, commercials, and the financial side of running a business. You’ve probably already been a VP or higher, running a large team.
- You might come from a strategy consulting background (e.g. from McKinsey, BCG, Bain, etc.), or hold an MBA (e.g. from Said, LSE, Insead, or LBS).
- You’ve worked in a high-growth environment before - probably in a venture-backed business - and understand the pace that we need to move at to meet ever evolving challenges.
- You’ll roll your sleeves up and personally own the delivery of complex workstreams. If your engagement ends at ‘finding the right person to look at that crucial project for you’, then you’re the wrong person for us.
- You understand group structures and appreciate the complexities of running multi-market operations and teams (e.g. pricing variations, international tax, etc).
- You aren’t phased by complexity and can draw together multiple sources of data to dive deep into process and system analysis.
