Chemical Analyst - Hull
Our client is looking for a chemical anayst to join a clean hydrogen production SME in Hull as part of a team with novel proprietary hydrogen and carbon production technology using plasma.
They have demonstrated their patented technology and are now building a full-scale prototype for extensive testing, as well as designing and building pilot production units. They are well funded and have grown significantly within the past year.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
The selected candidate will work with their mechanical, electrical and test teams and have the following responsibilities:
- Characterisation of gas and carbon samples generated through their patented clean energy generation processes.
- Operation of chemical and compositional analysis equipment (Mass Spectroscopy equipment, Gas Chromatograph and particle size analyser, etc).
- Direct on further analysis apparatus to fully characterize their products.
- Integrate the work of their mechanical, electrical and test teams.
- Perform tests and help to develop their hydrogen and carbon production pilot units.
- Manage the systems level activities and produce the associated documentation (e.g. test requirements, results logs, etc.).
- Support the test team to generate relevant samples for analysis.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
The selected candidate will have demonstrated experience of:
- Integrating multiple engineering functions and working with people from different backgrounds.
- Juggling priorities, working independently and quickly picking-up tasks outside of their comfort zone.
- Experience of operating scientific chemical analysis equipment.
- Understanding of in-situ and ex-situ lab analytics (i.e. GC, MS, SEM, etc).
- Experience with high temperature/high-pressure chemical conversion systems.
- Experience of leading hands-on testing or experimentation.
- Knowledge of high-energy/enthalpy reactions.
Experience in some of the following areas is a bonus:
- Experience of performing characterisation of hydrocarbons.
- Ability to perform data analysis using MATLAB or similar.
- Experience in COMSOL or similar simulation software.
Essential Educational Requirements
- >3 Years’ post graduate experience.
- Gas, hydrogen, chemicals or waste to energy experience
- Competent Microsoft Office Skills

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
