Chester Race Company are recruiting Chef’s for the 2023 race season and at many more events all year round! This role is exciting and varied, you’ll work events at Chester Racecourse, Bangor-on-Dee racecourse, as well as many other events such as weddings, private events, festivals, national televised awards and shows – all at prestigious venues across the region.

If successful, you will form part of our catering team at events across the region, including race days and non-race days. You will play a pivotal part in creating amazing dishes contributing to our award-winning success as the “Taste of Racecourses – 2022\" title holders.

Chester Race Company is one of the North-West’s most admired brand with an evolving portfolio including three racecourses (all of which were awarded “Gold Standard” by the Racehorse Owners Association in 2022), our own in-house gaming company ChesterBET, our catering company Horseradish, our Staffing agency Thyme People, an on-site hotel, and Commonhall St Social, a vibrant city centre pub within the group.
The successful Chef will be responsible for:
Preparing food for various events on and off site to our high standards
Delivering events at Chester Racecourse and around Cheshire
Support the health and safety of all aspect of food safety adhering to guidelines in accordance with HACCP and food standards agency
To show alertness, vigilance, attention to detail of all work
Providing a high standard of service regardless of quantity of covers
The successful Chef will have the following skills / expertise:
Have experience in a fast-paced restaurant environment or previous experience in large banqueting / catering service
Prior experience in catering of events is preferred
Ability to not let standards slip whilst producing large numbers of covers
Our rates of pay (All rates are inclusive of holiday pay - the below rates are in affect from 1st April 2023)
16-17 year olds £8.97 per hour
18+ from £12.22 up to £18.00 per hour on race days (dependant on experience)
Shift availability
This is a casual contract, work is available on an ad-hoc basis around the event calendar.
You will predominately work evenings and weekends on our race days as well as events across the calendar year.
Join us in time to work at BOODLES MAY FESTIVAL 10th to 12th May 2023! Our biggest and best race meeting of the calendar year at Chester Racecourse it’s a fantastic event to be a part of.
If you have previously worked as a Chef, CDP, lead chef, patisserie chef, kitchen assistant, chef-de-partie, sous chef, line chef or any other relatable role at events, in catering and hospitality please apply! Previous experience working at functions, conferences, weddings, sporting venues, festivals is all relevant.
