Please ensure you complete and submit your application as soon as possible for consideration *** Sheffield Hallam University Catering team are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Chef to join the kitchen brigade. You will play one of the most important roles in the business, as we pride ourselves in our cafes and kitchens, which are the heart beat of the campus. With up to 10,000 staff & students on site, our kitchen team manage a range of food production services to both our cafes and our conferences & events. With everything freshly prepared, our menus are innovative and good quality. The role involves working week days, creating dishes on a large scale over busy lunch periods, for students and staff to enjoy. You will need to order stock and ingredients, participate in creating menus alongside with the Head Chef, and this role would suit someone who is looking for progression. You should demonstrate a passion for cooking with high levels of organisation, alongside stock management and cost control to work in this faced paced environment. Good communication skills, along with knowledge of food hygiene and the safe use of Chemicals in line with COSHH guidelines will be expected. The successful candidate will have an IOSH Basic Food Hygiene Level 2. You will also need to be an excellent team player and thrive in a busy and vibrant kitchen environment, whilst having the ability to work under your own initiative. This role comes with a fantastic work life balance, working mainly day times between Monday – Friday, with occasional evening and weekend support for events such as university open days. The hours of work for this Chef job are Monday to Friday 7.00am to 15.00 pm.
