Job description
The Diocese of Manchester has established the Children Changing Places Project, which is currently working with schools and churches in developing discipleship pathways for children and young people in Bolton. As part of the project, we are looking to appoint a Chaplaincy Assistant, to work with the School Chaplain at Canon Slade School, which is part of the Bishop Fraser Multi Academy Trust.
The Chaplaincy Assistant will work in the school supporting existing and developing new models of engagement with students that enable them to grow as Christian disciples. As part of their role, the Chaplaincy Assistant will also work as part of the wider Children Changing Places team, with specific involvement in a Year 6 transition programme in primary schools.
The post holder should have some experience of pastoral care and an awareness of chaplaincy in schools. To succeed, they need to be enthusiastic, relational, self-motivated and able to lead young people in a variety of contexts.
There is an Occupational Requirement for the post-holder to be a practising Christian, in accordance with Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010.
The post will be offered to the successful candidate subject to satisfactory references, an enhanced DBS check and proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
