Main Purpose of Job
Reporting to the Marketing Director, you will be responsible for managing the company’s marketing strategy for its ‘distribution’ routes to market. This involves all UK activities where our products are sold to the ‘trade’, consisting of electrical wholesale / plumbers merchant market for specification by social and private landlords, and for purchase and installation by electricians and contractors.
These products are in high demand as they contribute positively to the decarbonisation of the UK, and primarily consist of electric heaters, heat pumps, ventilation fans and water heaters. There is also an element of B2C, where we generate consumer demand from homeowners for these products.
Completion of this role includes plans and budget, working within a multi-disciplined marketing team towards meeting business objectives. You will set the short-term and long-term goals to establish our Dimplex and Xpelair brands in the market, engage our customers and working with our sales team to create a favourable market full of opportunities.
You will have good experience in understanding the building materials distribution route to market and environment in which the sales team operates, and be an ambassador for collaboration, ensuring the marketing team is integrated with key technical and sales functions. You will build and deliver marketing plans and work with the sales team and other stakeholders to deliver them
Accountabilities
- Research, plan and lead the execution of an adaptable and lead-generating marketing strategy to differentiate Dimplex from competitors and retain/engage customers.
- Lead the growth phase of an Installer Engagement scheme, building our relationship with skilled electricians.
- Prepare and manage the marketing budget, ensuring prioritisation to maximise ROI.
- Ensure collaboration with key business areas to ensure an integrated and aligned marketing function which supports the needs of the business.
- Implement continuous evaluation on marketing activity with a reporting process to track and measure ROI, conversion rate, stakeholder feedback.
- Contribute to new product ideation and development within the distribution business, ensuring market and regulatory opportunities are commercially considered and the department understands products, features, and functions for effective marketing.
- Become the hub for distribution market and policy information. This will include managing attendance and the dissemination of information from working groups within industry and trade associations.
- Contribute to company growth and development by undertaking further ad-hoc duties and responsibilities as required.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Ability to work flexibly in a fast-paced environment.
- Evidence creating and managing the achievement of strategic objectives within marketing.
- Budget management skills for the prioritisation of resource.
- Experience in creating, monitoring, and reporting on marketing plans tailored to different customer types.
- An understanding of the building materials ‘trade’ and distribution route to market.
- Strong management skills, including dealing with external agencies.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills with a history of taking technical information to the professional market.
- Experience in using research and analytics to inform marketing strategy.
- Able to analyse complex, technical information to inform commercial decision making.
- Experience building stakeholder relationships. Interpersonal / influencing skills are critical.
- Team player with a history of collaboration across departments.
DESIRABLE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Experience in dealing with trade and industry associations.
- Degree level qualification in marketing or a similar subject with additional qualifications in construction or engineering.
- Able to demonstrate an understanding of current and future policy influencing the residential and commercial building markets.
- Understanding of the distribution, (aka ‘trade’) route to market.
- Translating content for C-suite, media, and key industry associations.
- Experience in creating professional content for government and industry, including reports, CPDs and guides.
