Job description
People Consulting is an integral part of KPMG’s Management Consultancy practice and a growing part of our business. This team help to transform the performance of organisations by changing the way people are led, managed and developed. We do this by focusing on two key areas – delivering the people agenda on large scale, complex, change programmes and transforming the HR function by technology.
We have 4 key capabilities:
- HR Transformation
- Learning solutions
- Organisational Transformation
- Workforce Transformation
Role Description:
We help financial services organisations – Banks, Insurance companies, FMIs, Wealth and Asset managers, and Fintechs – to change and adapt to the environment in which they operate. Changes may be driven by decisions to digitise, to streamline, to pivot, to respond to new regulation or to harness the benefits of analytics or new technology. Or they may be driven by acquisition or disposal. Whatever the reason, our clients are continually re-designing parts of the organisation, and that’s where we come in. We are looking for experienced consultants who can lead Change and Organisation Design workstreams on complex, business critical programmes. We expect the consultant to be able to scope, price and design our approach for a particular client (with support from a Partner or Director), and then to lead delivery of this work, including managing teams of more junior consultants. Many of our projects are multi-disciplinary, and you will be expected to work and collaborate with colleagues from other service lines such as technology, finance, customer or analytics. We expect the successful applicant to have the following technical skills:
- A strong appreciation of different approaches to manage behavioural change. Experience of the core techniques of leadership alignment, case for change, stakeholder identification and management, sequencing for the change programme, communication and engagement, impact assessment, and planning people transition. In the area of technology implementation, we would expect experience of user adoption approaches including training and awareness.
- And/Or, deep expertise in the area of Organisational Design. This should include the full range of OD, including role definition, objective and KPI definition, ways of working, hierarchical design, cost modelling and sizing, grade levelling, and people transition planning. An appreciation of organisational design in an agile context is desirable. Experience of working with Org Vue would also be beneficial.
- The strongest candidates will have capability across both Change and OD, but we are also interested in candidates who are deep specialists in one or the other.
- We are looking for candidates who understand the financial services environment and have undertaken consulting projects in one or more of the sub-sectors mentioned above.
- As this role is a senior manager role, and the consultant would be expected to lead and manage other consultants, we expect that candidates will have experience in consulting, ideally with a recognised professional services firm, or global consultancy. In-house consulting experience is also valued.
- Candidates will need to have the personal skills to influence, communicate with and work with senior clients, often at C-Suite or just below. They will need to have strong writing skills, be really good at Powerpoint, confident with excel, and comfortable working face to face and through Teams.
- We value a collaborative mindset. Everyone at KPMG is talented and ambitious, but we are a close knit team that wins together, and we value people who will share knowledge and support colleagues.
- Above all, we are looking for people with a strong sense of curiosity – we want people who are interested in their clients, care about their business, are motivated to research and understand them, and are prepared to work hard to make them a success. And we want people who are curious about our discipline – the management of the workforce – and who continually updating themselves, researching the latest trends, and sharing these insights with colleagues and clients.
- Our Deal: We recognise that as individuals, we each have particular needs and that one size doesn’t fit all, when it comes to how, when and where you work. That’s why we’re proud to offer our colleagues agile working options. We believe in putting you at the centre of your career. As well as training, development and stimulating work environment, we offer you access to work with some of the most leading edge, complex, demanding but rewarding financial services companies out there. We are happy to discuss your own requirements and our range of flexible working arrangements in more detail, should that be of interest and, as part of the recruitment process, we can put you in touch with those in the team who already work flexibly
