Job description

The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the business and driving Geneoscopy's accounting, treasury, corporate finance, and capital planning activities. The Chief Financial Officer will monitor the financial performance of the company as well as its potential risks and anticipated capital requirements.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive the company's financial strategy by analyzing prior results, identifying key performance indicators, and setting financial targets for the business in collaboration with the leadership team.
  • Perform financial analyses to support sound decision-making across all areas of the business, including research and development, sales, marketing, product management, operations, and general corporate activities.
  • Develop the corporate fundraising strategy and manage relationships with partners and investors. Lead fundraising activities by communicating with existing and prospective investors, directing the preparation of pitch decks, board presentations, and marketing materials, and producing financial models depicting the company's operations and growth potential.
  • Maintain continual awareness of the company's cash balance and consumption dynamics and proactively manage financial resources to retain a strong capital position.
  • Prepare and analyze financial models and forecasts and report variances.
  • Responsible for corporate development and the leadership/management of all relevant transactions for the company (including M&A, equity financing, debt financing, etc.).
  • Assist in negotiating terms of agreements with and managing company vendors.
  • Set up and oversee the company's finance system(s) for accounting, treasury, and financial planning activities.
  • Manage relationships and interact with external financial and tax advisors.
  • Set targets for and supervise all accounting and finance personnel (management accountants, internal auditors, etc.).
  • Oversee all financial audit and internal control activities.
  • Direct the preparation of all financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, shareholder reports, tax returns, and governmental agency reports.
  • Compare sales and profit projections to actual figures and budgeted expenses to actual expenses; make or oversee any necessary adjustments to future projections and budgets.
  • Review the planning process and suggest improvements to current methods.
  • Work with other executives to coordinate planning and establish priorities for the planning process.
  • Study long-range economic and competitive trends and project their impact on future sales and market share growth.
  • Ensure the company's financial activities and disclosures adhere to relevant regulatory and legal standards.
  • Work directly and regularly interacts with the Board of Directors on various needs and through committees (i.e., audit committee, finance committee, etc.).
  • Work within the approved budget; develop and implement cost-saving measures, contribute to profits and revenue, and conserve organizational resources.
  • Guide the company towards profitability and long-term commercial and financial success through tactical asset allocation, insightful financial planning, and precise accounting/reporting processes.
  • Update knowledge by remaining aware of new regulations, participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
  • Other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Master's Degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance is required.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • 15+ years of experience in financial management and leadership experience.
  • Extensive experience raising capital through both the public and private markets.
  • Ability to strategize, problem-solve, and make sound business decisions.
  • Experience in developing budgets and financial plans.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
  • Possess knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements.
    Familiarity with investment management and funding sources.
  • Demonstrate success in financial planning and analysis and tax planning.
  • Experience managing financial operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and auditing.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to be flexible and responsive to changing priorities.
  • Effective negotiating and contract management skills.
  • Strong critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Expertise in financial concepts and general accounting principles.
  • Exemplify the ability to multitask and thrive in an agile, fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient.
  • Possess proficient verbal and written communication skills, while willing to share and receive information and ideas from all levels of the organization to achieve the desired results.

SCHEDULE

This is a salaried position, requiring at least 40 hours per week. There may be projects that require activities beyond the standard hours.


COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • Base salary range: $300,000 - 400,000/annually determined based on the candidate's experience, knowledge, and abilities.
  • Bonus: discretionary annual bonus based on a percentage of the employee's base salary
