Qualified applicants will be provided formal classes/training in order to meet certification requirements for the Maryland Board of Nursing CNA/GNA program. If hired, students will be compensated to attend required classes and upon successful completion of training and certification, may be placed in a Nursing Assistant position.:

Job Summary:
Assists in meeting the resident’s needs by performing tasks for the residents and maintaining a clean environment on the nursing unit under direction of the licensed staff supervisor.

Essential Functions:
  • Treats all information about residents, their condition, and family as confidential information.
  • Complies with established Corporate and Departmental policies and procedures, and maintains established standards and practices.
  • Answers call lights and performs tasks for residents exclusive of those nursing duties performed by Nursing Assistants. In cases where resident requests involve nursing care, the Hospitality Aide will immediately notify a nurse or Nursing Assistant.
  • Provides clean, dry linen and makes beds to meet resident needs.
  • Maintains a clean, sanitary environment on the nursing unit (cleans bed pans, commodes, etc.).
  • Transports residents/escorts residents by wheel chair or walking without assistance as directed by the licensed nurse.
  • Assists residents in menu selection and meal delivery.
  • Provides transportation for residents to outside consultants as requested by the DON or ADON and upon mutual agreement of all involved persons.
  • Assists in moving furniture.
  • May assist with feeding of residents if they have completed the 8hr state approved feeding assistant course, or completed the state approved nursing assistant course.
  • Performs other functions as directed by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
  • Able to assist with resident transfers or repositioning.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist and turn constantly throughout an eight (8) hour shift.
  • Organizational skills and ability to do sequential events.
  • Motivation and desire to work with geriatric persons.
  • Ability to speak English at a level residents can understand.
  • Ability to read and write in English to carry out functions related to the care plans and provide appropriate resident care.
  • Must be able to constantly work on their feet during an 8 hour shift, bend, stoop, twist and turn constantly throughout the shift in performing regular duties. Must be able to lift up to 25-30 pounds of resident weight and/or transfer and reposition a resident at least 25 times throughout the shift.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to react quickly and decisively in emergencies and in response to the unexpected behavior of residents either during lifting or repositioning or during other frequent occasions when having direct contact with residents. Must be able to handle the physical transfer of residents from unsafe to safer locations in the event of a fire or other disaster. Ability to do sequential events/tasks.
