Job description

This employee will direct patient care duties including performing routine treatments (nebulizer treatments), procedures (Spirometry and 6 min walks), rooming patients (including vital signs and medication reconciliation), as well as other numerous duties, under the close supervision of a Professional Nurse or Physician. Employee will also clean and maintain the patient care environment and perform routine clerical functions. Employee may obtain and record pertinent health information, maintain patient data and reports, and provide information to individuals and families.
If not already certified, please note that you must receive your Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification within 6 months from your start date for continued employment.
CLINICAL SUPPORT POSITION – NOT SUBJECT TO STATE HUMAN RESOURCES ACT.
The ECU Brody School of Medicine is affiliated with ECU Health Medical Center. ECU Health Medical Center is the flagship hospital for ECU Health and serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.

Minimum Education/Experience
Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Some positions may require registration as a Nurse Aide by the North Carolina Board of Nursing, or certification through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA.)

License or Certification required by statute or regulation
Depending on candidate qualifications, one of the following will be required:
  • Contributing: Registered NAI through the NC Department of Health Human Services
  • Journey: Registered NAII through the NC Board of Nursing
  • Advanced: Certification through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) is preferred OR Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through the American Medical Technologists (AMT). If not already certified or registered, please note that certification or registration through the previous mentioned organizations, or a CCMA through the National Healthcareer Association, must be obtained 6 months from your start date for continued employment.
