CNA - Responsibilities
- Meet the required physical and sensory requirements and be able to function in the environment as defined.
- Find process improvement activities that optimize workflow, enhance customer service, or improve the workplace and take part in them.
- Provide daily and as needed personal care for residents, including grooming, bathing, clothing, oral care, etc.
- Regularly change the linens on the beds and keep the resident's room clean and well-stocked with grooming items.
- Using the appropriate body mechanics and assistive aids, ambulate and transfer the resident.
- Keep track of the resident's vital signs, weight, measurements, intake, output, food intake, and other information as needed.
- Residents should be regularly turned and positioned as needed.
- Pay close attention to the residents' conditions and notify the charge nurse of any changes.
- Recognize a resident's capacity for decision-making and encourage it while keeping in mind the limitations of a caregiving environment.
- Participate in data collection to ensure that the MSDS and plan of care period are completed accurately. Give nurses feedback to help them develop the care plan.
- In accordance with the individual resident's demands, give them enough water at regular intervals throughout the day.
- Prepare residence for each meal and transport to the dining room (unless a bed patient) making sure that the food tray is accessible, self-help devices are available (if needed), an assistance is provided to those residents who cannot feed themselves.
- Keep an accurate record of food intake and output, as directed.
- Assist nursing staff with the basics of aseptic and sterile techniques to avoid infection of residents and self- contamination of equipment and supplies.
- Be alert for proper ventilation, temperature, light and noise control.
- Take blood pressure, weighing of residents, and TPR (temperature, pulse, and rate) etc., as directed.
- Duties as assigned by supervisor.
