Technologist - Cell Culture

The role of the technologist is to organize and execute lab-based work to a high standard and good attention to detail within their relevant discipline or technology. Work is performed according to protocol in compliance with rules and procedures and the employee can identify and escalate abnormalities. The individual maintains their training and skills to effectively carry out their duties, seeks out additional opportunities to enhance their learning.
Key responsibilities:
- Perform basic cell culture activities
- Operation of non-standard bioreactor processes and/or cell culture automation
- Delivery of work in line with expected standards (safety, on time, right first time to the appropriate degree of quality)
- Equipment ownership
- Adherence to good laboratory practice including cGMP
- Operate as part of a cross-functional project team
- Basic data analysis and interpretation
- Completion and peer review of laboratory documentation
- Reporting results to appropriate audiences (e.g. presentations, data summaries, reports)
- Requirement to join the out of hours call out rota to respond to alarms on cold storage units (or cell culture systems as appropriate)
Key requirements:
- BSc in relevant scientific/technical field
- Preferred experience in upstream basic cell culture techniques
- Required: Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact and deal with internal stakeholders
- Clear and Concise Writing: Organises thoughts in a logical way that conveys the important information.
- Independent Learning: Self-directed in learning.
- Required: Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook
- Desirable: Application of Continuous Improvement tools and techniques such as 6S, visual management, mistake proofing and the 8 wastes.
