Job description
Headquartered in York, we are a biotechnology company developing an exciting market for the supply of custom nucleic acid aptamers for use across a range of disciplines. We have state-of-the-art high-throughput robotics to enable rapid identification, development, and characterisation of aptamers.
Role and Responsibilities
· Maintenance and quality control of cell stocks necessary for customer and internal projects
· Maintenance of equipment and laboratories required for cell-based selection processes
· Supporting both the team and the Cell Selection Study Director in the cell selection process.
· Assist in functional studies of cell targeting aptamers
· Developing new laboratory methodologies / SOPs covering cell culture
· Writing accurate experimental plans, technical documents and reports
· Recording, interpreting results and presenting findings regularly to senior management teams
· Ensuring tests and procedures are properly understood, carried out and evaluated
· Operating standard laboratory equipment
· Continuous improvement and development of new and existing methods
· Technical scientific support to other departments
· Maintaining and monitoring cells as required for the selection process
· Ensuring cells are available as required for the selection process
· Maintaining equipment, facilities and stocks associated with cell culture
· Planning and organising your own workload
· Ensuring compliance with QC processes
· Gathering technical information as directed
· To provide technical support with other departments

Required Skills and Expertise
· Mammalian cell culture
· Experience with FFPE tissue
· Good written, communication and interpersonal skills
· Adept IT skills with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
· The ability to work in a team is essential
Preferred Skills
· Flow cytometry and/or FACS
· Molecular Biologic techniques such as PCR, Electrophoresis and bacteria cloning
· Knowledge of Aptamers
· Primary cell culture
· Confocal or fluorescent Microscopy
