Where you’ll work
A stone’s throw from Barkingside High Street, the home is situated close to shops and eateries, as well as being near two train stations, providing direct access to the city centre of London. With all this on their doorstep, members of the team are able to organise regular outings for the residents, including pub lunches, as well as visits to the local library. The home also hosts themed community events throughout the year. This summer the team have organised a Hawaiian themed virtual cruise week for the residents. They will transport them to this exotic destination by recreating it in the heart of the home. There will be plenty of grass skirts, floral garlands and bright and colourful shirts, as well as live music, games and amazing food. Events like this are open to people from the local community to come along and spend time with our residents.

- First and foremost – we work together as a team to enrich our residents’ lives – let’s support our colleagues too and have fun in the process
- Your main duties will include basic food preparation, presenting meals to a high standard and serving meals to our residents, all performed to relevant food hygiene legislation
- Excellent food and great service play a key part in our residents’ day.
What skills do I need?
- Team work! A happy team, makes for happy residents and a happy home
- Previous catering experience is desirable as is a food hygiene certificate
- An understanding of safe food storage/cleaning practices is essential
- Support and training are provided
- You need to be caring, enthusiastic and have energy to share
- Being able to communicate well is essential along with a flexible approach
- You will also be kind and have a real genuine like for older people and their needs, ensuring we treat everyone with the respect and dignity they deserve.
