The Role
Position Purpose
The Shell Mobility Team is seeking a Category Manager, which will be responsible for delivering a truly differentiated, market leading offer that has scalability, with the right range, assortment, and market leading pricing architecture of categories within the scope of the accountability. This position will also oversee our fresh food offerings, site-level supplies, and food safety management. Please note that other categories might be in consideration. In support of Shell Canada's strategic focus on providing the best mobility offerings, the portfolio presents the greatest opportunity for delivering a step-change through differentiated food of offers that attract more "on-the-go" customers to Shell sites more frequently.
As a Convenience Retail Category Managers you are responsible for establishing the vision, strategy, marketing tactics, and plans to enable a differentiated CVP and deliver profitable growth year on year, while exceeding consumer expectations and satisfying their shopping missions. This purpose is fulfilled through close adherence to retail category management planning and implementation principles. Category Managers utilize fact-based decision making for product mix, pricing, merchandising, and promotions, grounded on market trends, consumer behavior, and the competitive environment of the marketplace.
Accountabilities:
Develop differentiated category strategies and business plans in line with Shell Canada’s Mobility Vision and CR’s strategy
Utilize professional Category Management principles to develop robust category plans covering Range, Promotions, Marketing and Merchandising concepts, and set business targets, measurable objectives, and tactics
Design robust marketing plans that provide Shell with a competitive edge in unique & differentiated customer value propositions
Build strong partnerships with leading product manufacturers and suppliers in order to secure the most favorable integrated value for Shell, our retail partners, vendor partners, and our customers
Deliver year on year integrated growth (organic and new) in sales, margin, and income
Develop key business plans and detailed P&L impact in support of new growth and optimization opportunities
Implement a product management and merchandising plan: periodic range management reviews with input from the sales team, suppliers, industry & trade research, and BIC merchandising principles (planograms, pricing and promotions)
Execute operational standards to build the right skills/capabilities to deliver operational excellence
Manage third party resources
Skills & Requirements
Minimum 5+ years of experience in a similar role; category and retail experience is required
University Degree in any related discipline
Must have legal authorization to work in the Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
