Job description
Energetic and committed to access to archives? If so, please get in touch with us.
Sheffield City Archives has outstanding collections of government, corporate, and private records, some dating back to the 12th century. We are steadfastly committed to improving customer service while widening access to the collections.
We are seeking a dedicated and motivated cataloguing archivist to join our small team of archivists and assist us in continuing to reduce our backlog of cataloguing.
We have conducted a thorough analysis of our backlog in recent years, and we have determined which collections to catalogue which will have the largest impact on our customers, support our mission to reach new audiences, and help ensure the collections more accurately reflect the communities we serve.
Working with a mix of analogue and digital material, you will work with Axiell Calm and Preservica.
This is a crucial position that will significantly impact the service and our customers for many years to come.
We want to hear from you if you have a can-do attitude, are a diligent worker, and have a creative way of thinking.
We are investing in our workforce and are promoting opportunities to our under-represented groups. We value equality, diversity and inclusion and are focused on increasing the diversity of our workforce, particularly the number of Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic, Disabled and LGBTQ+ people, so that our teams reflect the communities in the city we serve. We are also supporting staff with unpaid caring responsibilities to work flexibly.
It is a great time to join us and we welcome your application.
Under the Disability Confident Scheme, disabled applicants, who meet the essential criteria of this job, are guaranteed an interview.
Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the Council, including reduced hour contracts, working part time or as a job share.
