Casual Opportunities have arisen in a Children with Disabilities Short Overnight Breaks Home in East Lancashire. Based in Great Harwood 'Hilltop Lodge' is a brand-new, purpose-built building with all new equipment both inside and out.

As a Casual Residential Childcare worker (CRCCW) you will be employed on an 'as and when' needed basis to support the needs of the home mainly covering staff annual leave and sickness. The role of an CRCCW is wide reaching and covers many of the aspects of caring for children in a residential setting, a role specification is available as well as a job description for more details.

The right candidates may not have experience of working in a children's home or working with children with disabilities but should have some experience of working with children in a professional capacity. This is why a leading induction and training program will be provided to successful candidates to support ongoing career development and support including bespoke training such as; Makaton, Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD), Autism, Global Development Delay, Creative Play and many more.

Meeting a child's social, emotional, intellectual, cultural, physical, and personal needs is a demanding yet highly rewarding role ensuring every child is given the opportunity to reach their full potential. Successful candidates must demonstrate an ability to build effective working relationships with young people & their families, show good teamwork skills, communication skills and record keeping. Whilst demanding, the role is highly rewarding. A high level of patience and dedication to the needs of children that can be challenging is essential.

The right candidates will also need to be able to work with other agencies, such as Education, Children's Social Care & Care Professionals, in promoting the needs of the young people.

The hours of work will include weekend work, evening work, and on occasion an overnight sleep-in duty for which a sleep-in allowance and enhanced rates of pay will apply.

Although this post does not require you to have your own vehicle, it does require all applicants to have a full UK driving licence. Transporting our young people is an integral part of the role therefore the ability to drive our fleet vehicles is essential.
