Job Functions: This position is responsible for the daily operation and management of the thrift store.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assist and help customers in a friendly manner, including loading purchases in vehicles as needed.
  • Keep the store clean and neatly organized, with shelves stocked.
  • Promote the dignity of all customers while shopping in the store.
  • Efficiently operate the cash register and maintain daily reports, including bank deposits.
  • Maintain marketability of Thrift Store by arranging displays, coordinating sales, and setting up mannequins.
  • Assist in the Donation Center as assigned, including sorting and hanging clothes, storing of products, and loading/unloading of donations.
  • Maintain inventory of items in Frances Street Warehouse
  • Designate items for Thrift Store and Metro Market
  • Designate items of excess for Salvage Trailer & inventories.
  • Maintain daily operations of Clothing Warehouse
  • Train and supervise volunteer workers.
  • Train and supervise Resident Workers
  • Meet personal goals and actively contribute to the achievement of the team and organizational goals as stated on the Balanced Scorecard and in the annual plan. Support the team in other tasks as assigned. Support the Holiday Center, Bridge Builders Luncheon, and other fund raising events as directed.
Requirements:

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or GED completed. Extensive Retail/Marketing experience preferred.

Skill Requirements:

This position requires the ability to work within a multi-disciplinary framework; must be computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office. Must be willing to be cross-trained and utilized throughout the Operations department. Must be able to communicate effectively in English, orally as well as in writing. Must demonstrate a heart for the ministry of serving poor and homeless families. The position requires a degree of maturity, sensitivity to issues of faith, cross cultural and diversity issues, and the social skill to handle job-related matters in a professional and diplomatic manner. Requires strong managerial skills and the ability to supervise both individual and group volunteers. Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries with clients, staff, and volunteers. Must be able to calculate mathematical equations to collect sales tax, calculate discounts and make change as needed, as well as inventory control. Bi-lingual a plus.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to tolerate outdoor temperatures consistent with Florida climate and endure prolonged standing. Must be able to relocate materials in a safe and proper manner. . Must have adequate hearing and speaking ability as to take part in and provide sound oral communication and information. Must have the physical, emotional, and spiritual stamina to handle job-related issues and stress. .

Other:

Must demonstrate legal authorization to work in the United States and pass applicable pre-employment background screening procedures. Must be able to work flexible schedules during the holiday season (October-December) and special events. Must be able to communicate effectively in English. Valid FL drivers license with a good driving record in order to transport self and clients when necessary.
