Job description
Description -- We are looking for a Cashier for the weekends. Saturday and Sunday are required. Receives cash or other forms of payment from customers in payment for goods or services and records amounts received Re-computes or computes bill, itemized lists, and tickets showing amount due, using adding machine or cash register. Makes change, verifies checks, and issues receipts to customers. Records amounts received and prepares reports of the transactions. Reads and records totals shown on cash register tape and verifies against cash on hand. May be required to know value and features of items for which money is received.
May give cash refunds or issue credit memorandums to customers for returned merchandise. May operate an electronic or computer-based cash register with peripheral electronic data processing equipment by passing individual price coded items across electronic scanner to record price, compile printed list, and display cost of customer purchase, tax, and rebates on monitor screen.
Displays strong numerical skills and attention to detail. Must be highly exact and accurate in performing duties. Understands and follows established policies and procedures for recording the sale and obtaining payment from the customer. Speaks with customers in a positive open manner that promotes customer satisfaction and retention. Answers customer questions, provides information and resolves minor customer complaints. Consults with supervisor if complaints are serious or cannot be resolved quickly and easily.
Supervision – Reports to the Store Manager/Lead Cashier.
Education – High school diploma or GED.
Experience -- One year of similar experience is desirable.
Equipment – Competently operates a computer, fax machine, copier and other office equipment.
Working Conditions – The job is indoors in a heated and air-conditioned environment. Requires a significant amount of standing.
