The Care Collective are recruiting for a Carers Services Manager (Cardiff & The Vale) based at our Penarth Office.

The Role

Manage and develop our information, advice and support services for unpaid carers across Cardiff and the Vale – ensuring they are focussed on achieving our agreed outcomes.

Lead and develop a team to deliver person-centred outcomes for unpaid carers across Cardiff and the Vale

Increase the number of volunteers helping to deliver and get feedback on our services.

Maximise the resources available by thinking and operating innovatively and through developing partnerships to support more carers and increase the difference we collectively make to their lives.

Develop positive and constructive relationships with our funders and partners to keep carers high on the agenda and to sustain and grow our services.

Report and feed up to date intelligence and evidence to commissioners and policy makers.

Responsibilities

Working collaboratively with partners and community services, manage the delivery of a programme of support, activities and services that help improve the wellbeing of carers and which respond to their needs and aspirations.

Monitor and report on our services in Cardiff and the Vale, providing regular updates and reports to the Director of Services, Chief Executive, trustees, commissioners and other relevant parties. Ensure reporting demonstrates the scale, impact and quality of our services.

Work with the Director of Services and other senior colleagues in identifying and pursuing funding opportunities across the region and organisation. Oversee or support the negotiation and bidding of contracts and grants in line with our agreed priorities.

Work with colleagues on workforce planning and development, ensuring we have the right number of people with the right skills in the right place and we are succession planning. Manage and develop staff ensuring staff are clear about their roles and responsibilities and feel motivated, respected, recognised and supported to ensure high productivity, morale and a culture consistent with the organisations values .

Oversee and support volunteer recruitment across all areas of service delivery in line with our agreed priorities.

Identify developments and potential externally and internally that may impact on service delivery and may lead to new ways of working, new opportunities or other service changes. Make recommendations to the Director of Services and lead change as agreed.

Take overall responsibility for all aspects of customer care, as well as staff and volunteer safety when delivering services. Take a proactive approach to preventing risks, dealing with or escalating issues as appropriate.

Working with our internal and external Health and Safety resource, oversee the proactive development and implementation of robust health and safety policies and practices at the Carers Gateway and outreach work, advising or escalating to relevant colleagues as appropriate.

Ensure that effective processes are in place to respond to feedback on service issues and complaints, investigating and reporting to the Director of Services, Chief Executive and trustees where appropriate.

Own, deliver and cascade internal organisational communications in a motivated and passionate way. Engage and inform the team so that important messages and changes are embedded successfully.

Help to raise the profile and recognition of The Care Collective to support with recruitment, service-user and partner engagement and financial sustainability by contributing to social media presence and the website.

Personal Specification

Experience Required

·Experience of leading or managing frontline services.

·Experience of managing staff and/or volunteers.

Experience of safeguarding responsibilities.

Desirable Experience Required

A network of contacts within local authorities, health boards,

Regional Partnership Board and voluntary sector organisations in Cardiff and the Vale

Experience of working with unpaid carers or people with care/support needs.

Experience of business case development and bid writing/contract tendering.

Experience of managing Health & Safety risks.

Strong leadership and team building skills.

Essential Skills and Abilities Required

Ability to enact and/or manage change.

Excellent communication and relationship building skills, able to communicate effectively with service users, external partners, funders and professionals.

Ability to work co-operatively and effectively with colleagues across the organisation.

Ability to set, manage and report on budgets from multiple income sources.

Ability to obtain and provide insight and analysis to ensure funders fully understand the value of our services and that we are meeting contract requirements with a focus on meeting targets and demonstrating outcomes.

Capacity to resolve complex and/or challenging situations with the ability to influence actions and appropriately and positively respond to constructive criticism or challenge.

Ability to maintain professional boundaries, including appropriate levels of confidentiality and the requirements of GDPR.

Desirable Skills and Abilities Required

Ability to communicate in Welsh.

Qualifications Required

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

Ability and willingness to travel as part of the role and wider organisational requirements.

A commitment to continual professional development

Positive attitude toward carers and committed to equality, diversity and inclusion.

· ILM Level or 5 or above is preferred

Salary: £31,000.00-£38,000.00 per year
