Day Centre Care Worker

About Dementia Matters:

We are a small established Charity based in Newcastle and for over 18 years we have provided care and support to those living with dementia. Our services include residential, day care and home support. Alongside our wonderful team of staff, we have a growing team of volunteers and carers who have entrusted us with their loved ones to provide the very best we can.

Day Services

We currently operate a Day Service based in Newcastle at The Bradbury Centre, Brunswick Village. This operates Monday to Friday 9 - 4.

Home Support

We provide an all-inclusive Home Support service providing anything from a 1 hour call up to bespoke 24-hour packages of care.

Residential/Respite

We run a 10 bedded service that offers both respite and residential care based at The Bradbury Centre, Brunswick. We currently have exciting plans for expansion.

Job Details:

We currently have two vacancies, for an 18 hour and 36 hour contract within our Day Centre at Dementia Matters for Care Workers. When applying for the role please state your preference.

Day to Day:

o To provide personal care to people we support and to know and understand the people we support on an individual basis.

o To carry out duties in a person centred and in the least intrusive way.

o To fully encourage the independence of the people we support.

o To assist with medication

o To prepare food and drink, being aware of individual likes and dislikes, nutritional needs and cultural requirements.

o To use appropriate moving and assisting methods, as trained, where appropriate.

o To accurately, legibly and factually take records in respect of care, medication and environment.

o To assist with transport to and from service users residence.

o To assist with meal prep and cleaning.

o Any other ad-hoc duties necessary for the role.
