Salary: Band 4 £21,205 - £22,437 pro rata
Hours: 22.5 hours per week - Monday Tuesday and Friday 08.00am until 4pm
Contract: Permanent - Part time

The Service:
Royal Albert Centre is a day centre offering innovative day care for older people with dementia and high dependency needs. It is an exciting place to be for service users and staff and has the facilities to promote healthy living and wellbeing to enable older people to maintain independent living.

The Role:
Using a person-centred approach, you will look after the physical, emotional, culture and social needs of service users, which will involve activity planning and provision. This role will also include driving and escorting service users to and from the unit and out on planned trips.
You will be looking after the needs of a diverse group of service users with a wide range of care needs and this will include some moving and handling and personal care duties.
You will be expected to work as part of a team or on your own, liaise with multi-disciplinary professionals in respect of the needs of service users.
You may be transporting and supporting service users to and from the day service in the morning and home in the afternoon from and will need to have the ability to drive a minibus,
Midas training will be provided, and it is an essential requirement for this role is that you have a full driving license (D1 category desirable but not essential). Candidates will need to complete a MIDAS assessment (practical and theory and accessible) prior to a job offer.
What you'll need to succeed
You need to have/be:
- Patience and an understanding of the needs of older people who have a diagnosis of dementia / cognitive impairment.
- Flexible and adaptable to be able to take part in escort duties to meet and respond to the operational needs of the service.
- Good communication and be able to interact well with service users, the team, and other professionals and an excellent team player.
- Able to deal with emergencies in a calm manner.
- A full driving licence (D1 category desirable but not essential).
