Are you looking for a way to get your start in healthcare or to further your current role in healthcare? The Personal Care Attendant program is a great way to gain entry into a dynamic healthcare environment where you will learn the basic skills and essentials of patient care to prep you for your next step of becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) within 60-120 days after beginning employment.
The program is designed to give you basic classroom knowledge and skills to perform direct patient care and you will also experience on the job training with Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA), LPNs, RNs, and other clinical roles to guide you. Avante Villa at Jacksonville Beach will assist you in enrolling for the CNA exam, as well as cover the cost of the exam, then work with you to develop your skills and knowledge, therefore prepping you for success in getting your CNA license.
*Pursuant to Florida Statute, the PCA program is only a 120 day program beginning on date of hire. Obtaining CNA licensure is required as of day 121 to maintain compliance with the statute.*

Purpose:
The Personal Care Attendant will provide resident care in accordance with provisions of Section 400.211 Florida Statutes. Upon completion of all required training Personal Care Attendants will perform care procedures currently delivered by Certified Nursing Assistants.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age;
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent;
- Ability to read and write and follow oral instructions in English;
- Must be computer literate to complete task(s) as required, such as MS Outlook, MS Word, online educational programs/webinars, and facility support software, such as Point Click Care (PCC);
- Long-term care experience in skilled nursing preferred, but not required;
- Possess special interest in, and a positive attitude about, working with long-term care residents and the elderly;
- Must possess a willingness to learn, have a passion for caring for resident's needs, and ability to communicate positively, effectively, and appropriately with residents, family members, community members, Avante's vendors, volunteers and staff members;
- Must be eligible for clearance through abuse registry and Department of Law enforcement;
Essential Job Functions: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Pass Meal Trays/Open cartons & packets
- Check Resident Temps
- Perform One (1) Person Transfers
- Reposition the Resident in Bed/Float Heels
- Transfer the Resident to a Wheelchair using a Gait Belt
- Use a Gait Belt to Assist with Ambulation
- Oral Care/Denture Care (alert residents)
- Provide a Bed Bath/Perineal/Catheter Care
- Change an Incontinent Brief
- Assist the Resident with Getting Dressed
- Assist with Hearing Aids
- Assist the Resident to Bathroom or to use a Urinal (1 Person Assist)
