Who are we looking for?
TCHC is looking for a Careers (Information, Advice & Guidance) Adviser to provide a direct IAG service to TCHC Learners through a mixture of 1:1 and group interventions, which is confidential to the individual and meets the highest standards of equality of opportunity. The IAG Adviser will provide impartial and accurate information, advice and guidance to learners at varying stages of their journey including those looking to access education and training qualifications, those due to complete courses, and wanting to scope their next steps and those that require signposting or referrals to other agencies. The role will ensure the maintenance of accurate client records, support contract KPIs and meet matrix, CDI and TCHC quality expectations.

Location: Peterborough base with outreach delivery
Working Hours: 8.30 am to 5.00 pm OR 9:00am to 5:30pm
1-hour lunch
Monday to Friday
37.5 hours per week
Salary Band:
£23k – £28k (dependant on qualifications/experience)
What are we looking for?
Qualifications:
· Level 4 Diploma in Careers Information and Advice
· Level 6 Diploma in Career Guidance and Development
Experience:
· Providing quality Careers Information, Advice and Guidance to clients, especially those with complex or neurodiverse needs
· Developing careers/employability workshops/ programmes of learning and of planning & delivering on a roll-on, roll-off programme.
· Developing and maintaining excellent relationships with partners and stakeholders.
· Confidence in using a diverse range of presentation, facilitation and communication skills.
· The ability to handle challenging situations whilst remaining calm and in control especially in a group situation.
· Respect for and understanding of Safeguarding, Equal Opportunities, Health and Safety and Data Protection policies.
· A passion to inspire, motivate and lead by example to support people to achieve qualifications and career aspirations.
· Empathy with the learner group and experience of overcoming complex barriers
Main Tasks & Responsibilities
· Undertake 1:1 and Group Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance interventions with learners both remotely via Teams or face to face (in TCHCs centres or on an outreach basis).
· Manage a caseload of learners, supporting the achievement of personal and team targets, including MI requirements for TCHC contract’s
· Identify the short, medium and long-term skills, learning and work goals to meet the individual needs of learners, ensuring that learners have an action plan, with SMART actions for both learner and where appropriate adviser.
· Recognise and record and if appropriate build on previous work experience and educational attainments and continually support learners to progress to ensure that realistic career aspirations can be set and achieved.
· Record all interactions with learners on appropriate contract paperwork, updating case notes and local MI systems.
· Prepare, deliver and review SOW and lesson plans for sessions that address the employment needs of the group including CV, Interview Skills, Assessment Centre Training and addressing barriers to employment.
· Eliminate duplication of activity and support the improvement of the transfer and sharing of individual learner’s information between IAG onboarding and TCHC Tutors and Learning Coaches
· Engage and motivate learners to encourage use of the IAG service.
· Work with colleagues to assist learner’s progression towards qualifications, and movement into employment
Note: These duties are a guide to the work the post holder will initially be required to undertake. Amendments may be made from time to time as the role evolves and to meet changing circumstances and these do not form part of the contract of employment. Additionally, due to the ever-changing environment in which we operate, flexibility and the willingness to travel to other work locations are essential for these roles.
An enhanced DBS check will be a requirement for this position.
